Interview with NaDa

This was an online interview done by "Enjoy E-Sports".
These questions are mainly from fans, so the they don't really connect from one question to another..

Q: NaDa, say hello to Enjoy eSports fans.
A: Hello!


Q: How are you doing these days? Tell us about your life.
A: I’ve been practicing here and there, and I like to drink next to the Han River.


Q: You’ve recently recorded a commercial for Korean Air and we’re curious. Also, if there was a fun event in Australia while recording, please tell us.
A: First of all, it was an honor. I never knew that only a few seconds of a commercial took this long to record. Along with tens of staff members, everyone else worked hard. It was a really meaningful experience. And as for something fun that happened, I drank the seawater from the Great Barrier Reef, and I tasted the death (laughs).


Q: Like the one on your mini homepage, what’s happening to your retirement? All the fans were worried and scared. Please don’t retire.
A: I won’t retire (laughs).


Q: Many fans want to watch your games. When can we see you again in Proleague?
A: I’m currently preparing for the Proleague, and I will probably make an appearance sometime soon.


Q: You mean in Winner’s League?
A: Of course!


Q: We heard you recently recorded a revenge match with Nal_rA. Was it fun?
A: Please don’t watch it.


Q: How do you think about your nickname “Genius Terran”? And also, why did you pick Terran? I’m wondering if you regretted your choice.
A: Well, Terran was very hard, but I have more fun with hard races like that. It somehow cooler, and people watch me a lot from the back. I’m thankful for my nickname. It’s hard to hear that by studying.


Q: What aspect of you do you think is better than the rest of 4 bonjwas?
A: My innocence? (laughs).


Q: During your peak, you lost a lot to sAviOr and iloveoov. Who was the harder one to face?
A: iloveoov was harder because of his mind games. He was also too tall.


Q: If you have a comeback game that made you say “how did I ever win that?”, which game is it?
A: My game against PianO during Winner’s League 08-09. The game didn’t make sense at all.


Q: During your incident with 50 Gates in the past, what were you thinking in such a bad position?
A: I thought “what is he doing to me?” I got surprised by that many Gateways. However, since the unit cap is 200 anyways, my mindset was that I could win as long as I fought well.


Q: Why don’t you leave any messages in WeMade FOX homepage? We’re waiting.
A: Look at it now (laughs).


Q: WeMade Terrans are very strong, but they all seem different. We want to hear about the difference in styles of Mind, Midas, BaBy, Major, Ryung, and others.
A: Midas is really good at setting up build orders. He plans the game so well that he sometimes won the game just by planning it. Mind plays diligently like a scholar. Baby is fast and sharp, Major plays standard well, and Ryung is like a Dongwon Tuna [Ryung’s Korean name is Dongwon]. He feels friendly because he is from Pohang. My sister lives there.


Q: What do you think about Starcraft Gallery?
A: Do you go on it? Please refrain from flaming.

Q: Within your team, Midas is doing well right now. Do you feel stimulated by his performance?
A: Of course. I’m learning a lot from him because he sits next to me. I can learn from anyone! There is no end to learning.


Q: Is there any specific fan you remember out of all your fans thus far?
A: The fan who asked this question… I’ll remember you <3.


Q: Do you regret your double eyelid surgery?
A: Not the double eyelid surgery, but ptosis surgery. Honestly, I wasn’t used to it in the beginning, because it was better before (laughs). But my photos came out weird. I’m satisfied, it’s no longer inconvenient. Because of ptosis, I got a lot of wrinkles on my forehead. But now, I can open my eyes comfortably and I like my photos.


Q: Your robot dance vs. Kong dance (YellOw’s dance. Watch here if you haven’t:

A: Isn’t my dance catchier than the Kong dance? I think my dance is better (laughs).


Q: Out of WeMade players, who do you think is the manliest and coolest?
A: The manliest and coolest… Rock? (LAUGHS) [LMAO]


Q: As a veteran, a lot of funny things must have happened. Out of those, if you have a funny incident with a fan, please share.
A: Fans wanted me to “heart dance”, so I kept the promise, but once I started dancing, they looked away and told me never to do it again. I was sad.


Q: How do you think Marines jump out of Dropships?
A: I wonder. They don’t even have parachutes, so they have to break their legs. It doesn’t make sense (laughs).


Q: Is your Golden Mouse 100% gold?
A: Yes, 100% gold. 100 pounds worth.


Q: What is your ideal girl like? Yuri from Girl’s Generation?
A: My ideal type is someone with a warm heart. Yuri is really mannered (laughs).


Q: A lot of people are wondering if you talk with Yuri
A: What is her number? I’m curious too (laughs).


Q: Your favorite proverb?
A: “The boughs that bear most hang lowest” and “Nada with natural expansion”.


Q: Who is your closest progamer? Also, what are you interested in outside e-sports?
A: Right now, I’m the closest with MuMyung. I’m close with my teammates, and I’m trying hard to be closer to everyone else. Outside being a progamer, I like to exercise, travel, and watch movies by myself.


Q: The reason veterans can’t perform as well as they can is because they have a lot of worries. Of course, age has something to do with it, but you have fast hands. However, your plays have become less daring, am I correct?
A: I wonder. I was bold in the past, but I do think I have become more timid. The reason is that my televised appearance is really rare, so I try to stay to safe builds. I would get my senses back if I could play more and therefore play better. The best way to fix it is to practice more, and increase the rate I play televised matches.


Q: We know that you’ve faced a lot of slumps as a progamer. However, every time, you overcame each of them and became the top player in the game. How did you manage to do that?
A: It’s important not to think of it as a slump, not to think of yourself as the best player, and for me, listening to good songs while practicing works. Imagining myself at the finals and enjoying practice is good too.


Q: Your best moment?
A: When I robot danced… not! (laughs). Shinhan Bank Season 2 Finals was my happiest moment in my life.


Q: When do you think will be your comeback time? Also, I’m curious about your current game senses.
A: Comeback.. I’m not sure. I’ll try hard. I think my game sense rose to about 70%. When it’s 100%, I guess that’s when I’m coming back completely.


Q: You’re acknowledged as the best player in the history. Who do you think can break your records?
A: I think it’ll be Jaedong, who has almost done as much as me. I’ll try hard so that he can’t catch up.


Q: Current Starcraft scene is more intense than ever. Who do you think is the best player?
A: I don’t really know. Everyone’s so good, so whoever is on your mind is the answer.


Q: Korean Air commercials are being aired, and your face doesn’t show. It seems like there are multiple versions, so will we see you in the next version?
A: The concept was 1st person, so it’s hard to see me. However, I come out a lot on the UCC version, so please use the Korean Air UCC website a lot!


Q: You’re getting old. Any plans for marriage?
A: Marriage.. I can only sigh. I’m still young (laughs).


Q: Did you save a lot of money until now?
A: Nope. It’s about ½ or 1/3 of what you think.


Q: You seem happier than you were few months ago. Is there a special reason?
A: My mood.. is just good. It’s good to be positive. I hope you continue to check on my mood!


Q: Being a progamer of course requires a lot of skills, but is there anything else that someone needs?
A: Outside the game, his strong mindset is important. If you lose, you become really stressed, so a strong mindset helps. Also, it’s important to realize that when you are happy or are having a hard time, you’re only happy and having hard time by a little margin. You just have to overcome it.


Q: Will you keep your promise of being a 30-year old progamer? What’s happening with the army?
A: I’ll try my best to keep that promise. I’m trying to join the Air Force, but I’m not sure. If I end up going to the Air Force, it will probably be sometime end of this year, and I’m also thinking about delaying it more.


Q: You were almost at 100 Proleague wins, but other younger players achieved it first. How did you feel about that?
A: I was jealous (laughs).


Q: What do you think about SC2?
A: First, I wish the graphics get better. I want each unit to have more special effects such as its missiles. Also, I hope it once again becomes a huge hit so that big e-sports tournaments open up, and international teams are formed. It will be fun to read about international teams such as Germany and Spain (laughs).


Q: Who do you want to play again at a big stage?
A: I think it will be sAviOr. I became the most nervous during that final. The opening ceremony was also really awesome.

Q: Did you see your birthday advertisement on Fomos last year? If you did, how did you feel?
A: I didn’t get to see it. Please do it again (laughs).


Q: Starcraft can get boring at times. What games do you play when that happens?
A: If I didn’t become a Starcraft player, I would’ve become a Counter Strike player. I really enjoy it, but I can’t play it. I must only play starcraft!


Q: What are your favorite snacks or food? Also, if you get drunk, do you become tough guy?
A: I don’t think it’s time to argue about what my favorite snack is, but I’ll be thankful if you send me some. Just kidding (laughs). I eat everything well lately. And I turn into a soft guy now when I drink.


Q: What else do you want to do other than progamer? Coach, manager, celebrity, president of an organization, commentation and etc, there are a lot of options.
A: I don’t know what would be the best. Commentating is a bit too odd.. (laughs). I’m still thinking, but I think commentating would actually be okay. It’s special.


Q: Your goals for this new year
A: I want to win one more individual league, and say a victory speech. Therefore, I want to appear more in Proleague to prepare myself for individual leagues. I want to become the best player in everyone’s memories.


Q: What were your thoughts on interviewing with Enjoy E-sports for an hour? Last thoughts.
A: I talked casually, so I hope everyone enjoyed it. I tried to make it more fun, so I hope everyone thought so. I hope this year is fun and awesome for everyone. I’ll try my hardest, so please cheer a lot for me. Thank you! Have a nice day!
