Top players at foreigner scene has chanced alot during years, but Mondi has always been one of them. I remember times when all foreigner events were won by Mondi,Testie or Sen... After that Mondi or Draco.

But you cant compare that to NaDa who has won the biggest tournament in the WORLD 3 times (the OSL obv), getting the Golden mouse in the process, the KPGA tour 3 times and placed second in 2 MSLs and one OSL. that is teh shit. being in the kespa top 30 for 6 years or what, hello??? €: i mean even if mondi was top 30 on the gosugamers power rank for 6 consecutive years, so what. Comparing him with NaDa is like saying Michael Ballack is the german Zinedine Zidane. they are both good but there is a difference! i think that people in this thread getting all offended (not necessarily this quote) or using logic like in this quote are missing the idea of what an analogy is. Obviously nobody in the foreign scene has accomplishments that can compare to winning 3 OSL directly. That's why it's an analogy.

Then again based on credentials or just, what each of them mean to their respective scenes?

I only remember him winning some 64 player tournament in '00/'01 against AoT)robkill( (who later went to [pG]) In these early days he was good, but there were a lot of other skilled german players. I dont really remember all of them, Kosh, Korn, kalas(c?)hni, fisheye, mmmbop...... fisheye f.e. qualified for the WCG 2001, 2002, 2003 but Mondragon did not.If you look at his overall WCG performance, he was not better than FisheYe (second 2003), Just some comments: Mondragon never competed in WCG before 2004, he outright refused to show up for the german finals. But yeah, FisheYe was clearly the best german player until sometime 2003 or so.

![]() Both are amazing old school players, but I'd say their play styles are a bit different!

But yeah, FisheYe was clearly the best german player until sometime 2003 or so. I would like to add some info to this. I started playing in 2000 and know him from back then, so it feels appropriate ![]() Actually before 2004 the German scene was very very active and mostly kept to themselves. It was a very fun time. There were several ICCUP like German only servers back then (FSGS server, DEF team server and others). It was a very fun time indeed. It was only with WGT that the scenes started mingling much more! That's when ToT recruited Ovvi and WiLLet (I think those were the first international recruits), and later Ret, Testie, Sen, etc. I think Mondragon has actually been around for much longer then Sen, so I don't get why people always mention them both in the same sentence in terms of old-school-ness. He was actually unbelievably young back then! I think he was like 12 or 13 when I first met him. That's maybe also why he didn't compete in the first WCGs... But he was already recognized as a very talented player. We used to have these IRL clan meetings (something like 80 people LANs) which he always won although he was only 12 years old He used to be [PL]Mondragon back at the start and was the student of the great [PL]Kalaschni (one of Germany most famous Zergs). He didn't compete in too many tournaments, but he was definitely one of the top 10 players in Germany relatively early. Of course he was overshadowed by the Marquis, DEF, Oger and FA people at the time (Kosh, Korn, Fisheye, Kalaschni, Adu and others). But he surpassed them and used to be the only guy who could compete with Fisheye from 2002/2003 onwards.I would also like to mention that he has a phenomenal record in both clanwars and nation wars. In 2004-2008 times he won like 80% of his games 2-0. He was _by_far_ the most consistant player in both ToT and team Germany. Sometimes I feel like people have a different understanding of the word oldschool now. They seem to have forgotton the 1999-2002 years, because people now haven't been around back then ![]() Edit: Here is his GER-Team record: http://starcraft2.ingame.de/gerteam/old/statsdetails.php?sid=1&name=Ger-Mondragon
