Sup? Don't bump this, thanks.
+ Show Spoiler [Original OP] +Banner thanks to RaptorX! From the massive amount of interest we've received from the previous thread about EsX_Raptor's amazing idea, I think it'll be safe to say we'll have enough people to run this league. Remember to sign up only if you know you're definitely willing to spend time and effort required. Regarding the format of this league, we would like to leave most of it to the TL members by having polls!
Eligibility The very first thing that we have to go over is the eligibility. There have been many suggestions such as number of games required. I personally think that it would result in less people dropping out in the middle of the league, and I think it's a good idea. I personally think High D+ should be the cap for the players, but a lot of C- players seem to want to participate as well. + Show Spoiler [Polls regarding eligibility] +Poll: Minimum games requirements?( Vote): None ( Vote): At least 10 ( Vote): At least 30 ( Vote): At least 50 Poll: Maximum rank allowed as a player?( Vote): D ( Vote): D+ ( Vote): C- ( Vote): C
Teams And once we have the players, how to divide them can be a problem. I think we should have everyone list the times they can practice during the week when they sign up, and we can put the people who can play around the same time in the same team. Of course we would still consider ranks/races to make the teams fair. Also, how many players to a team? I think 6 is a very good number, because that way everyone will be able to participate, and there aren't that many players for the coaches. If one person cannot participate for a week, there will always be someone else to fill up the spot. + Show Spoiler [Polls regarding teams] +Poll: How do we divide up the players?( Vote): Simple random placement ( Vote): By available time/Races played/iCCup ranks ( Vote): Have a ranking tournament, then distribute evenly ( Vote): Coaches' picks Poll: How many players to a team?( Vote): 4 (minimum) ( Vote): 5 ( Vote): 6 ( Vote): 7 ( Vote): 8
Coaches Another thing that came up often is how to make the coach distributions fair, since we have coaches that want to participate from C to B+/A- range. Also, should we allow the coaches to pair up because it would be difficult for a single person to manage and coach many different players? + Show Spoiler [Polls regarding coaches] +Poll: Allow more than 1 coach for a team?( Vote): No, only one coach per team. ( Vote): Yes, each team has two coaches. ( Vote): Yes, coaches can decide if they want to pair up or not.
Format I think everyone agrees on the format of Proleague style Bo5 with ace matches, but we have to pick the maps. I think 6 or 7 maps in the pool would be ideal. Also, depending on how many teams we get, we might have to separate the teams into two divisions, and then a final playoff between the top teams. The matches will take place every Saturday at 14:00 (2PM) EST or 20:00 (8PM) CET. The matches will most likely begin in January, but it depends on when we get everything together. + Show Spoiler [Polls regarding format] +Poll: Number of maps in the pool?( Vote): 5 (minumum) ( Vote): 6 ( Vote): 7 ( Vote): 8 Poll: Which maps to use?( Vote): Heartbreak Ridge ( Vote): Outsider SE ( Vote): Destination ( Vote): Python ( Vote): Andromeda ( Vote): Blue Storm ( Vote): Fighting Spirit ( Vote): Moon Glaive ( Vote): Match Point ( Vote): Collosseum 2 ( Vote): God's Garden ( Vote): Longinus Poll: How much practice time before league starts?( Vote): 2 Weeks (December 26th) ( Vote): 1 Month (January 9th) ( Vote): 1 Month and 2 Weeks (January 23rd) ( Vote): 2 Months (February 6th)
Signing up Again, if you're really planning on playing throughout the whole league please sign up using the following models by posting on this thread OR by PM if you do not want people to see the information: Remember to only sign up if you're willing to give up time and effort for this! Sign up link- CLOSEDWe would like to get this going ASAP, so the deadline (as of now) will be Tuesday, December 8th @ 16:00 EST. After that, we'll post the teams, schedule, final format, and rules. It will most likely run from January to sometime in March, depending on how many teams we get.
Finally, we're looking for stream/casters who are willing to do one match every week. Anyone who would like to help us in organization, or anything else, should also post on this thread/PM. Please post any suggestion/comments/requests in this thread or PM even if you're not going to participate. Thank you TL! I think this will be great experience for the players, and I hope it goes well! Remember to vote!

When we tried this at SC2GG the players just stopped showing up and it wasn't due to bad coaching. We had Salv, Semih and a few others who were doing a great job until it petered out.
I would like to add I can coach as well and I have done it in the past. I'm not a great player but I can spot irregularities in build orders and timings, etc. So maybe I can make a good assi. coach.
I can also stream in HD as well.

iCCup Rank: high D/low D+, depending on time of season Race Played: Protoss/Terran iCCup Name and Link: numLoCKzzz, vIU[Inspired] Available Time: PST, after 7pm most days (depends on work schedule). With Winter Break I can come on most of the time given sufficient notice. How to Contact Outside of TL.net: MSN (I'll give to my team or upon request) Suggestions/Comments/Requests: I think a tournament should be used, and rather than just distributing evenly just have different groups for coaches picks (like coaches pick 2 players from low group, 2 players from mid group, and 2 players from high group)
|
Oh, it's on.
BTW you are coaching multiple people... lol unless for some reason you asked for the 1 specific c- protoss player then you don't care about the rest of your team
|
Regarding teams i think a combination like "Have a ranking tournament, then distribute evenly taking into account available time/Races played/iCCup ranks" would be optimal, and then use that ranking tournament along with some iccup ladder games to determine eligibility. Voted C- for max, because i have a C- account without have played a single game at that rating. So by Xeris' definition of "true rank" (http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=105887) i would be D+, but not literally.
Also making teams by geographic location would be cool since it would bring a sense local pride into things.

Interested in participating with this event. Secretly been waiting ages for an chance to actually learn to play the game with guidance and possibly show of the progress.
D-, interested in learning Terran or Zerg.
Have not yet activly participated on ICCUP duo to just beeing really bad and having difficulty to find people to play/practice with and set goals for improvement, this seems like an awesome oppertunity to get better.
Loads of spare time(~6+h/day) and willingness to play alot to improve. If there is a required set of games needed to be eligible for a 'coach' I'd be happy to play them on ICCUP (tsl or normal) before this starts.
l10f, thanks for setting this up, I just know alot of players like myself have been dieing for an event like this!

Comments- Would love to get paired up with derivatives/oneother, we've worked together before. And yes, the difficulty almost always is with getting lower level players to actually show up for practice. I will have a microphone and vent after this next week. My rank is odd- I can reach C-, but not hold it. Edit : Also, I'm only fluent in english. My spanish is atrocious.

Well then, let's see if I would bea ble to get in as well...
Players
iCCup Rank: high D, low D+? Never really tested my potential as I don't tend to play a lot...
Race Played: Zerg (best race), Terran (favorite race but WORST), Protoss (in the middle)
iCCup Name and Link: QuickStriker..... link... well too lazy to find... I think I gotta recreate a new one..
Available Time: Depends on my next semester schedule in school... I should be free normally on evenings on weekdays and even weekends in EST time if I'm not partying, with girls, having meetings, studying, etc...
Location: New York City!!!!!!!!!! (USA of course)
How to Contact Outside of TL.net: Will give my AIM or MSN upon request, do not want to give it out publicly, so just PM me please...
Suggestions/Comments/Requests: Give me schedule in ahead of time, I do need some practice matches, probably some coaching and all, but normally I enjoy myself going outside a lot so I would hopefully meet my coach or my player face to face, and perhaps have a drink or two... (soju preferably) I am a Broadcast Journalism major so my future will lie into the media field as I plan to become big and strong in the Media world so.... play your cards right, and connections will happen!

if the matches begin in Dec. 26, then shouldn't the deadline for sign up be a few days/ 1 week ahead of it? so players/coaches can get organized.

It says on the OP when the signups end. It ends on Tuesday, and then the teams will be out no later than the 12th (probably a couple of days before this), along with the rules and the schedule. The first match will most likely take place on the 26th.

The teams will have at least 2 weeks before the first match.

People are not gonna improve enough in 2 weeks to make a big difference. You won't even go up a rank in 2 weeks most likely, unless you were close to it already...

I improved like a rank a season by mass gaming. A coach speeds up the process, but not enough to be super noticeable right away... I think 1-2months of training would be better =/
add a poll for that?

I agree, perhaps a preseason match of sorts at 2 weeks, and then official stuff after a month?

Ypang is right, you need to get this thing going within 2 weeks max. If you don't, then people will lose interest and then no one wins.
I think that 2 weeks is long enough for the coaches/players to both learn and help each other plenty. This kind of tournament/league means that players will more than likely play and practice way more than they normally do. Thus, there will be more improvement and also more incentive to improve/practice (due to the fact that you do not want to let your team down).

ok rephrasing my idea above, I think itd be cool if this kept going after the first set of matches. what I'd like to see -
after two weeks, an exhibition match two weeks after that, real matches start then once that is done, any previous players/coaches can keep team (whoever is willing to stay and is still eligible) and quickly go into next season.

I really feel as far as it goes one should have people from the same timezone put together. Then one would usually have someone to practice with, and a coach to talk to about the games right after. Of course, if someone has absolutely nothing to do but sleep during the days, a change of team can be a good option. Also, to make the first match so close to christmas I dont think is a good idea. Practice matches for those who can is fine, but my guess is that many will have things to do then. I myself will travel home for christmas, hanging out with family and old friends, and while I might manage to show up, the pc and the internet connection will be highly unstable, so playing any good games at all then will be hard. Making friendly non-point tournaments for those who have a chance to play then would be a better option imo.

I think after this tuesday, we should just play a match 1 week after the drafts, just to see where everyone is at, and THEN adjust accordingly so if a team has a bunch of strong players it can be distributed equally. That way we also skip the christmas problem.

Exactly. The point is for everyone to get better either way, winning isn't the main goal - fun and improvement are what we're going for I think.

I think a match that doesn't count on the 2nd and 3rd week, then league starting from the 4th is a good idea.

If we do happen to have a huge coach-trainee imbalance, we'll be giving preference to the lower ranked players when the time for player distribution begins.
Yes, we can have friendly games before the official stuff begins to determine which teams are the strongest, however, I believe all the teams will be evenly balanced as - like we previously mentioned - we'll be using the BO5 proleague style for the team matches, which means no player in a team may play twice in the same team match unless this gets to the point of having to play an ace match.
Coaches cannot play ace matches! (unless you guys want to implement this )
Right now I hear we have a 1:10 coach-pupil ratio, and looking at the votes, we'll be allowing only 6 players to a coach >.<, we need more coaches! gogo

I think middle ranks should get preference. (High D- to low D+)

And most of them want to pair up. So far we have 8 pairs of coaches signed up (16 total). 12 pairs would be nice to have

I'm just really hoping this takes off the ground. Right now I'm loosing on US West and for me just reading liquipedia isn't enough. And after this coming week finals are over so I can start to really mass game.

Are the coaches all being paired up now, or is it still an option to coach alone?

I think C-'s should be able to participate ;/, C-'s skill doesn't differ from D+ much. In fact, many D/D+ players hits C- at the end of the season, where all the D's have played enough to get D+ and you win for eg. 50% of the time against them. So yeah, I think players with max C- ranks should be able to participate too :S.
p.s. so the poll will decide this without any questioning or someone will take decision based upon poll, registered players, logic etc.?

Just an idea, but if you dont want to choose players based on ranks, you should do it based on games played on iccup this season; I think it'd be the best way (I'm sure coaches want ACTIVE players).

But, I have not played any ranked games on my Iccup account this season. That does not mean I'm not active (I play almost everyday), and is probably the case with some other people.
|
That's a good idea, since I played over 1100 games this season on various accounts on ladder and on "melee" with friends ^^. However, I peaked C- few days ago for the first time, so I guess I won't be able to participate ;/.

Even if you're C- still sign up.
|
yea seriously, tbh i'd rather have a group of Solid D/D- players that are super active/motivated, than a C- that comes on every 3 days.
|
As I said earlier, though it might have been missed, I personally am definitely in support of allowing C-s who are below or at 3500 and currently have a record at this rating with more losses than wins. If you can beat a single D+ you can get C- with just mass gaming, the actual skill gap from low c- to anywhere in d+ doesn't seem to be that great or even existent to me.
I don't really like the the form we had to fill out, the concision of it only allows for precision if you have nothing "special" about you. I felt I had to write a lot in the "extra" box to be giving accurate information. It's weird for me to write a "main race" because I play all three so often, and my matchup skills are so different for the mostpart. And the iccup id I'm currently using doesn't reflect all of that accurately. Probably doesn't matter though ._>
This League should be fun, I hope it doesn't die out quickly. People seem to lose interest so fast in these kinds of things =/

My thoughts on possible maps to be used: Odd-Eye (maybe, can understand people not wanting it for a lack of replays and a scarcity of vods) Destination (popular, relatively balanced, lots of replays, fair amount of variety in gameplay) Outsider (maybe.. fair amount of vods/replays, but as it's no longer a courage map not that popular anymore, also could be too hard of a map on players not used to large amounts of cheese and drop/island based play) Neo Medusa (maybe, fairly basic macro map with a fair amount of harass potential and strategic diversity, but not all that popular, and the backdoor might be hard on players) Athena 2 (basic macro map, not played all that much, lack of replays/vods made up for in map simplicity imo) Sin Chupung-Ryeung (not played a whole lot, fairly basic macro map with good harass potential and strategic variety, racial imbalances might be too strong though) Byzantium 53 (basic macro map, not played a whole lot, but maybe too boring?) Troy (generally basic macro map, not played much, with a great potential for interesting play and tactics) Neo Forte ! (blast from the past, pretty basic macro map, should be playable still, problem lies in all replays being corrupt and vods being of bad-by-today's-standards players (more or less); less boring than some of the other macro maps of today though, cliffable nat, somewhat encouragement of 1base play with low min nat and high min main, and small mains possibly encourage more proxies) Hitchhiker (older map, not too extreme imo, fun map, but maybe too few replays with vods being somewhat outdated) Azalea ! (awesome older map, very basic, popular until last two years when it was removed from wcg, provides variety in the form of possible viable 1base openings vs FE to min only vs FE to gas expo, etc) BlitzX (older map, few replays but fairly basic macro map, a lot of variety in games though, really neat, underused (when it was played at all) map)
I'd really rather not see Heartbreak Ridge (too awful/annoying, albeit courage/popular), Moon Glaive (courage map, but potentially annoying nat), Fighting Spirit (seems boring and imbalanced? courage map though), Colosseum2 (basic and up until recently fairly popular as a courage map, but really boring and the nat placement and turtlability of the 3rd gas expo can be hard on players), God's Garden (really boring, though basic and with room for variety in games), Python (everyone knows it, but it's pretty boring), Longinus (boring and imbalanced), Andromeda (boring and can be hard on players trying to play the map "correctly"), and Match Point (few replays, not courage, seems to be imbalanced). Bluestorm'd be ok though I'm concerned the tight path could be hard on people not already used to it. I wouldn't mind Andromeda/Python, just they're boring. Moon Glaive is iffy for me only because of the nat.

I think some people may be confused (by the looks of the spreadsheet) Coach + Coach = 2 co-coaches.
|
i think for this round it'll be ok since we don't know if this will die out or whatnot but if this is successful, I think a preliminary tournament for players would be nice. And then the coaches can do a draft thing based on their rank.
I feel like this does 3 things 1. It will be more likely the coaches will want to work with the players since they were hand picked. 2. It would reaffirm the ranks of all the players. 3. It would help balance the skill difference in the coaches (although i guess playing skill isnt the same as teaching skill.
Just a thought
|
Oh and to add to that, it could possibly show a map imbalance because at low levels, who knows..
We could call the prelim tournament the NoobSL!
|
I may be interested.. although I might be on the border of both. I have gotten C+ and almost B- in the past at my absolute peak (early 2008), but I havent played seriously for about a year, hardly played more than 20 games since may too.. hmm.
I do know lots about BW/RTS's, I have been organizers for top RTS teams and helped going over strategy with top Canadian players (one who won WCG Canada in the past) so I feel I could train good, I just dunno if my APM is at a level to prove it on my own at the moment without practicing lately.. so who knows.
It'd be nice to be a player too, cause I could get back in shape for SC2 -_-

imo if we do a draft we should limit the number of people for a rank on the team like no more than 2 D+'s, 4 D's, or something liek that

what does the option "help the team" mean exactly? Afaik only players can play and coachs/co-coaches can teach. What other tasks would there be? o.o

Well, I don't know either tbh. RaptorX made that. I think he meant help organizing or something. in my opinion, the option co-coach and help the team shouldn't be there.
|
Kickball and FPL use a hardpoint system that assigns a point value to each player and gives the coaches a maximum number of points to fill. That could make drafting more complicated than it needs to be though.
"Help the Team" had me rolling. I think it goes without saying that players should help each other if a coach isn't online or is busy.

Actually, you're right, it just slipped my mind. Thank God for iccup data archiving methods (although, it's going to be lost once the season is over ).

It's pointless to practice on python. It has almost no relation to modern maps.

No, I mean, that's the point. Strategies that work on python don't work on newer maps. The difficult to take third means that 2base/1base strategies are heavily encouraged, which is the opposite of modern maps. It's very difficult to FE as P in pvz due to the wide nat. The ability to slowpush also makes tvp/pvt very different.
Python probably will wind up making it in, and it's played really frequently, but it's out of date for any matchup but mirror matchups by a few years. There are people who are really good on python and terrible on other maps.
|
I get what you're saying, but I meant to say we should have Python to keep a balance between older maps, and newer maps used right now. But if we always play maps that have an easier 3rd, when a map with a hard to take 3rd comes up, the people won't be as comfortable? If its like 50/50 between old maps and new, I think people would play better, since they aren't straying too far away from their comfort zone.
For example, the maps could be like: Python Destination Fighting Spirit Match Point Moon Glaive
So that people can learn to use 2base/1base strategies and also learn to do more modern strategy. If we only use new maps, it will probably be really tough for people to learn, because there could be like many possibilities, since the newer maps are a lot more complex than the older ones.
|
if you want an older map, actually pick an older one. python isn't that old, it's just the replacement of lost temple/luna for current map that's overplayed because it's simple
|
Since Python is simple, people could learn to macro better, since there isn't as much strategy needed.
On December 07 2009 14:58 Gao Xi wrote: Python should be in it, since its pretty simple, so people could work on macro and stuff like that,

Python is just terrible. It lends itself to early agression a bit too much since the rush distance is so short, and the quality of the games is rarely satisfying. That's just imo, but still...
|
i find games on python very satisfying. The map doesnt encourage turtling because the expos are fairly spread, which could lead to boring games. Its simple and balanced, so u dont have to fight against imbalances, and its not huge so rushing is very possible. Many different styles of play are viable on it, unlike other maps whos shape restricts the amount of good build orders you can use. I dont know why people dont like it, its overplayed for a reason.

Playing on maps which provide longer games on average will help you improve more. Still, if it gets voted in, that's that.

I will personally murder everyone who drops out
Well, the time is set (2:00 PM EST) so people in Europe and American can both have a reasonable time. The teams themselves are separated by time zones so practice won't be a problem.
And one more thing
It looks like we're going to have 12 teams (unless more coaches sign up). Would it be better to have two groups of 6 teams and the top teams from both groups play or have one large group of 12 teams?
Poll: Divide up the teams into two groups? (Vote): Yes (6 on each) (Vote): No (One big group of 12 teams)
|
I think we should organize it something like the NHL since they do an awesome job with the setup. So for this it would be 2 groups of 6 teams. Group 1 would play against group 1 teams more, and Group 2 would play against group 2 teams more. And occasionally have group 1 teams play group 2 teams. The groups should be divided by timezone, so like Group 1 could be West and Group 2 could be East. So that way we could reduce lag, and timezone differences. And at the end of the season, we should have like playoffs, where the top 3 teams from each group play a round robin tournament for their group, and then the winner from each round robin tournament from the groups play each other in the final.
Its sorta confusing but i'll use an example:
Group 1: Group: 2 Team 1 Team 7 Team 2 Team 8 Team 3 Team 9 Team 4 Team 10 Team 5 Team 11 Team 6 Team 12
Lets say after the season Team 1,2,and 3 are the top 3 in Group 1, and Team 7,8, and 9 are the top in Group 2. Group 1 will have a round robin, so it would be like: 1 vs 2 1 vs 3 2 vs 3
Group 2 would look like 7 vs 8 7 vs 9 8 vs 9
Lets say Team 1 and Team 7 win the round robins. Then it would be Team 1 vs Team 7 for the grand finals. For season and playoffs points it could be like: Win = 2 points Ace match Loss = 1 point Lose = 0 points
Just a thought, cause I think it would work well with this league.

I don't think we should take Python. Most of the coaches who have spoken up don't want it, and they would be better able to teach their players on maps that they like to play.

I just registered an account on iCCup and had a couple of questions before trying to play on their servers. I'm at the option of adding their server to the server list by downloading a auto-reg file or their anti-hack software.
I'm leaning toward the former option as I'm hesitant on putting the anti-hack software on my computer as I don't know what it will do in the background. And since I'm guessing I would be around a D- I'm not worried about people having to hack against me to get a win.
I guess my question is by installing the normal auto-reg file offered, will I still be able to access Battle.net just as I have been? Is there anything else I should know about with using the iCCup servers?
Thanks for the help. I'm looking at using their servers to get some practice as I'm (hopefully) being tutored here. I haven't had too much success with finding "normal" games at Battle.net.
|
yeah, the .reg file only Add a new gateway. you still have the east, weest and asia gateway available.
The Anti-hack only run when you start it as a executable. It's not a service running all the time like PunkBuster ( or whatever it<s called for QuakeLive). So you can download the anti-hack with having any trouble with it.

Voted Python cuz it was tied with Match Point and I hate Match Point, doesn't mean I like Python.

The Anti-hack only run when you start it as a executable. It's not a service running all the time like PunkBuster ( or whatever it<s called for QuakeLive). So you can download the anti-hack with having any trouble with it.
Thanks for the response. Does the anti-hack software stop automatically when you exit Starcraft or do you have to stop it manually?

It's simple - Desti and Python is most often played map on icCup, especially on lower ranks

I'm always intrested in new maps and I dont play python that much.
Map Used Zerg Protoss Terran | iCCup | Python 1.3 109 | 100% 54 - 55 | 49.54% 0 - 0 | 0% 0 - 0 | 0%

On December 07 2009 16:48 Gao Xi wrote:I get what you're saying, but I meant to say we should have Python to keep a balance between older maps, and newer maps used right now. But if we always play maps that have an easier 3rd, when a map with a hard to take 3rd comes up, the people won't be as comfortable? If its like 50/50 between old maps and new, I think people would play better, since they aren't straying too far away from their comfort zone. For example, the maps could be like: PythonDestinationFighting SpiritMatch PointMoon GlaiveSo that people can learn to use 2base/1base strategies and also learn to do more modern strategy. If we only use new maps, it will probably be really tough for people to learn, because there could be like many possibilities, since the newer maps are a lot more complex than the older ones. If you want a truly simple macro map, include Luna. I do actually think that Luna would be a great map to include for just that purpose: it's an incredibly simple map with zero gimmicks and it contains many of the things more modern maps do (unbuildable middles, etc.).
The true issue with Python for me is PvZ. There's no point in practicing pvz on python. It doesn't help the p or the z player at all past D-. Python is not a macro map, it's really kind of the opposite. The rush distances are really short.
Edit : It's also totally wrong for PvT and TvP, you have to go 2 gate goon into 2 base arbs/carriers unless cross positions usually. 2 Fac rushes are also really encouraged, the map just lends itself to bad habits.
And with someone rigging the poll I don't think many of the votes for python are legitimate- until the discussion occurred it was actually behind almost all the other maps, leading me to believe its current position is probably due to Proom's signature.

I think it should be taken out, because I think people will improve more if there aren't maps like Python or LT, what do you think?
Poll: Python (Vote): Love (Vote): Hate

Why don't we do a second poll, and compare the number of people who want Python (22?) to the number of people who hate it, and then make the decision based on that?
|
why dont we make a similar poll for outsider, ive heard alot more people complaining about it on iccup than python. The fact that so many people are voting for python just MIGHT suggest that we should use it.

I to be fair really like this idea it kind of expands on the norm and makes it bit more interesting but I guess it's up to the general consensus of people. Sounds too difficult to organize and explain, IMO. If you watch hockey or (Football?) It would be easier to understand, and its not really complicated at all. I just might have explained it badly. =/
Further Explanation: Group 1 should be West and Group 2 should be East. So West teams should play against themselves more often since, the timezone difference will be little and lag would be a lot less, same thing with the East. At the end of the season you take the top 3 teams from West and have them do a round robin tournament, just like what they did in WCG. Do the same thing with East. The top team after the round robin in the West advances to play the top team after the round robin in the East. Winner would be like Champions of the Coach-Pupil league.
And for the scoring: Lets say Team 1 beats Team 2 3-1 Team 1 would get 2 points Team 2 would get none because they couldn't get it to ace match. But lets say Team 1 beats Team 2 3-2 Team 1 would get 2 points But this time Team 2 would get 1 point. So it would be more fair.
The Playoffs would be BO7, so each team would have to play 3 BO7 games, (4 if they come out on top and have to play the Finals.)
So needs to be done, is to organize people into the different groups, East and West. Then make 6 teams for both groups.

Well I think comparing 2 player maps to 4 player maps, 2 player maps encourage cheese a bit. I'm not saying they dont happen on 4 player maps I'm just saying that on 2 player maps cheesing is a lot easier since well you know where you opponent is... and I don't think D-/D/D+ should be cheesing for the most part since our mechanics and stuff isn't down and pat. Still Andromeda would also be a nice choice seeing how the mineral only and stuff could well, change things up more.

2 groups of 6~7 teams, top 2 from each group advances to the Ro4. Sounds like an easy to follow, sensible format.
I think that's the best way to go

i fucking hate python. terrible over used map. i have no idea why it's so popular on iccup. probably because the short rush distances encourage short games.

many different playstyles are viable on python, unlike a lot of these new maps. However it seems im getting outvoted here

What would happen if your team is scheduled to play a match, but you aren't available at that time? I work full-time, and my weekends are really busy so it's usually only week nights that I have an hour or two to play. Does that mean the team you play with has to forfeit/reschedule/play without you?

I'd love to do this but I'd feel a little presumptuous jumping into this with an ICCUP record of 0-0 (1-0 last season). I've played a lot with friends, but not against actual good people. This league seems great for the people who'd like to learn, but seems to rule out total newbies like me

l10f has been working a lot, I think today the official info is released and then tomorrow or the day after tomorrow the schedule for the matches... at least he told me that he would give me the schedule on wednesday but there is 200 people, I am not sure if this is going to be that quick.

I'm actually done with your team. I made 6 so far, but those were easier because so many people from EST signed up.

Many thanks to l10f for organizing, it's a tough and under appreciated job.

Of course, there is no restriction when it comes to practicing. If you're friend is in a team and you're not - you're always welcome to help him practice.

If you don't get in my way of teaching the guys on my team, I'll try to coach as many of you guys as possible. Just a matter of, my guys are my priority.

I can't believe I missed signing up! =/ I thought it was still the old discussion thread. Bah.
