Recently I've been getting pretty frustrated at the effectiveness of the horror gate strategy. It seems if I do not scout the gates early enough it's a guaranteed loss no matter how terrible the micro is of my opponent.
I'm wondering if anyone has any replays or vods of people getting horror gated and the victim winning (preferably ones where they don't just scout it early on which makes it easy).
For those of you that don't know, the horror gate strategy is when you build gateways inside someone else's base (particularly effective on maps with large bases you can hide gates in such as blue storm or destination), usually early on such as a 9/9 build. It's basically just proxying gates inside someone else's base, and often is effective even if the victim scouts it.

who calls it horror gate. If you're terran, don't seal and do two sim city gaps with your depot/rax/depot/fact.

if you're really that paranoid u can try 2 gating too

orb you know that horror gates are 2 gates built off a manner pylon. in any case, if you pull 4-5 probes and attack the pylon you can usually kill it before gateways are built. or, if you want to wait you can pull i think 6 probes and kill a gateway, then you make 2 gates and just pump zeals.
alternatively, since their base is literally undefended, you can manner pylon the hell out of them (map dependent) and then they cant make zeals lol.

I like to gate/forge, cannon in min line while sending a zeal to their base.
Don't know if it'll work past C level.

yes nyte, i´ve seen TT1 use that counter effectively in some B+/A- game, he also said that was the best counter to gateways in your mineral line.

you can put probes around his pylon so that you block his building placement. you should only need a few to well placed probes to keep him from building that gateway.

Yes this is fine if you scout it, but I'm talking about if you don't scout it until later
I guess I got the definition wrong if horror gating is only when it's off a manner pylon (easier to defend because you auto scout it right there), I'm talking about a proxy in your base, so in other words you can't block a ramp etc.
And I'm really looking for replays or vods. And no, putting probes around everywhere to block every possible gateway placement is ridiculous... I would have like 3 probes left mining.

To reiterate for everyone else...
A type of proxy gate is when gateway(s) are built secretly in the opposing player's main- a la  Bisu v. PerfectMan. We've all seen this on iccup.

A horror gate is the ballsy, I'm-better-than-you gateways built after a manner pylon. If you are successfully horror gated, you must immediately get on the floor and do 100 push-ups before returning to starcraft.

The last game shows a defense of a horror gate. All the game play after is not to be followed. This is probably more of a strategy discussion.

If you can scout the proxy gate, you can probably kill off the pylon, harass the probe and keep zealots from building. A shield battery is wonderful if you can manage it.

But yeah, unless you scout an inbase proxy, theres bery little chance of defending it. you just have to add a gate, a shield battery, and pray

you literally have to scout inside your base to stop it. every standard tvp build dies to it just about nomatter what. if you scout it before your gas is done, its really easy to crush. closest i ever saw to someone being caught offguard way too late and still doing a good job was iloveoov vs much i believe on tau cross in some wcg korea qualifier a year or 2 ago. much still won but oov played to perfection considering.

Wasn't there a match where one player horror-barrax'd and the protoss player scouted it via lucky cybernetics core placements.
