Hello everybody!
You may remember me from this thread. A lot of things has happened to me since then. I'am now more in love with the girl now that I don't see her anymore =( and I have chosen Terran as my main race. I have stopped being cynical (sort of) also.
Now, on to the main topic. Recently, my English teacher has assigned us a project for this term. This project will make up 50% of the grade for this term, so its really big. What I'am supposed to do for this project is to write an explanatory text on anything. As you may have guessed, I'am going to choose 'eSports' as my topic.
I'am really passionate about eSports and I look forward to see how StarCraft and eSports both turn out in the future. I'am supposed to do a mind map and write a short lead paragraph on eSports as of now. After doing those and handing it in to my teacher, he ( He plays Modern Warfare 2 and some other PC games, so I think I have a high chance of having permission to do it on eSports ) decide if I'am allowed to do my project on eSports.
What does the TeamLiquid community think of this? If you have any pointers or just want to help by telling me the major things abotu eSports, please do =)

This would be amazing. The e-sports industry definitely has heaps of stuff to write about.
Be sure to broaden the games though, don't just focus on SC2, there's a rich history of e-sports in broodwar, Quake, CS etc.
I think the first e-sports tournament was something like Doom 2, and the grand prize was 2L of coke and a copy of windows 95

Dude! If you can find solid information on the first eSports tournament it would help me immensely! <3

Watch this movie, it's a documentary on 2 rival CS teams, the CPL which was like the kespa of CS for a while and the quake 3 player lostcauze, it has interviews with old school e-sports managers and stuff. I'm pretty sure it has info on the 1st e-sports tourney.
It's impossible to find retail so just download it from somewhere.

Hey, here are some things you might want to look out for (concerning "first" esports)
- SwordQuest (I believe first tournament for a video game that had prizes (worth 25k$ each)
- Highscore tables (pong), "twin galaxies national scoreboard" by walter day
- nintendo 1990's world cup, where you could win golden cartridges of nintendo games
- 90's and the rise of LAN-based eSports, warcraft, starcraft, cs, and Kespa and more serious eSports
- Slasher's article about esports on kotaku
