I thought I would kick off this blog with my predictions on the upcoming GSL tournament.

My picks for the round of 16

Group A
IMmvp
oGsMC
3rd: STJuly
4th: oGsHyperdub

Group A is pretty easy pick. The champion IMmvp and the Kratos Protoss oGsMC should advance with no problem. The only thing I can see that would a minor threat is July as new maps favor Zergs macro game and he is a veteran of the game with deep insight, but I don't think that will be enough.

Group B
oGsZenio
EGIdrA
3rd: ZeNexByun
4th: TSL.Clide

Group B is a bit more even but Idra should advance to the round of 16 without problem. It will probably be very even between Byun and Zenio, but heck if I don't go with Zenio on this one. I think he is hungry enough to take a place in R16. Clide, although being the best player that have ever lived is feeling shaky and I don't think he will advance.

Group C
Liquid`Jinro
CheckPrime.WE
3rd: ST.RainBOw
4th: PoltPrime.WE

Jinro is the clear favorit in this group, his TvT is probably his best match up and with three Terran players, this should be easy. Check is going to have a hard time, but this will definitely be his last battle before going to the army (if he looses) and a player that has his back against the wall is a dangerous force to reckon with. RainBOw and Polt will probably do good, but not enough.

Group D
oGsNada
oGsTOP
3rd: HongUnPrime.WE
4th: TheBestfOu

oGs will probably rule this group. NaDa is NaDa and he will destroy most of his competition with is 400 APM and deep knowledge of the game. TOP showed everybody in code A that he is a "top" (yeah, clever I am ) level S-player. The only real question is who will get 3rd or 4th place in this group. I would say that HongUn is a step better then TheBest....(I will stop with the puns now.)

Group E
IMNesTea
SlayerS_BoxeR
3rd: SanZenith
4th:oGsEnsnare

Man, this is a hard group. The only clear advancement I see is NesTea, the rest is pretty much a gamble. I would probably place Boxer and SanZenith on the same level with Ensnare just half a step after. I will go with my heart and say that the Emperor will take the advancement to R16 in a tight game with the other two.

Group F
choyafOu
FOXLyn
3rd BanbanssuZenith
4th oGsTheWinD

This group is pretty easy to predict. Given the recent play of both choya and FOXLyn, I am pretty sure they will advance, but BanBanssu will not go down easily. TheWinD is not really code S material and he will most likely go down quick.

Group G
TSL.Trickster
TSL.FruitDealer
3rd: NSP.Genius
4th: anyproPrime.WE

Not as easy to predict as group F, but this should be taken down by FruitDealer and Seo Ki Soo, although FruitDealer was eliminated very quickly last GSL I think he will do better this time around. Blizzcon 2010 champ, Genius is no push around and he will not make things easy. anypro will have a hard time in this group.

Group H
MarineKingPrime.WE
KyrixZenith
3rd sCfOu
4th: oGsInCa

Hard group but, MKP and Kyrix will probably take it. Kyrix has shown that he is very impressive. I think his Zerg play will do well with the new maps, but I would not count out the former GSL R8 sC. This is one of the more uncertain groups, but I do think InCa, although a great player will not advance to R16.

Cool picks. Here are my thoughts:

Group A: I think your picks are spot on

Group B: This is probably the hardest group to pick from. I think Byun is actually going to win this group convincingly, and IdrA will finally show us why he's been saying he feels most comfortable in ZvZ:
Byun
IdrA
Zenio
Clide

Group C: I definitely think Jinro will clean up with this group. Check's economy management is still lacking though and the big maps will expose this even more. Rainbow is heading to the army soon from what I gather so I doubt he will be 100%
Jinro
Polt
Check
Rainbow

Group D: I like your picks. Could go either way between TOP and NaDa

Group E: NesTea wins easily, SanZenith gets rolled. I think Ensnare is better than Boxer, and the new map pool doesn't play into Boxer's strengths as much as it does to Ensnare's
IMNesTea
oGsEnsnare
SlayerS_BoxeR
SanZenith

Group F: Easily the weakest group. Choya's shenanigans will likely work quite well here, and Lyn seems solid enough to get past banbans and TheWind. I like your picks.

Group G: Anything could happen with all the PvP's we're liable to see, but overall I foresee another embarrassing outing for anyproPrime and another disappointing early exit for Genius.

Group H: sCfOu is seriously underrated. This kid is gosux2. He will finish a surprisingly close 2nd to MarineKing and send Kyrix packing. InCa is a good player but I can't see him getting 2 wins in this group.

Lol Group A is easy!!? Julyzerg incoming ....). May turn out to be your predictions but DEFINITELY not easy!!
And Rainbow is def favorite over Check.
Group D is very worrying given that thebest is very very good!

So you actually think that July is better then IMmvp and MC? I don't think so, July is good hence I wrote that he might be a minor threat, but in all honesty, when being put up against those opponents he is in a clear dissadvantage.

Yes, Rainbow is good and when pure skill is conserned he has a slight edge over Check, but I think I wrote that Check has his back against the wall and that would probably make him step up his game. Therefor I think he will suprise and come out on top over both Rainbow and Polt.

thebest is good, but consider his opponents he is not even close to be a favorite. If you compare him against the trackrecord of NaDa and the curent flow of TOP then he stands in the shadow.

Genius could make it into R16, but as I wrote I think that FD and Trickster simply are better players and have a better chance of qualifying.

How are my predictions not informed? I think your opinions are OK, nothing wrong with them, but don't trash my opinions by saying that they are not informed when I clearly write how I have thought about them just because you don't agree.
