XP SP2/3 definitely aren't the most stable OS, however what MutaDoom is saying is that the only thing microsoft beats is apple/macs, not the other way around. | ||

Ironically it also supports the widest range of software (certainly more than Vista) and everything supports more than Apple OS. Linux distros are great if you are comfortable working on the cmd prompt and installing packages...not really that user friendly. | ||

Having used a Mac and Mac server for school and SP2 else where I can most certainly say I trust my SP2 more. I've only have had maybe 3 crashes on the SP2, one from a beta program, 2 from bad ram sticks. | ||

Nowadays Linux distros come with plethora of GUI tools so you barely have to use the command prompt for tasks most users need. And they're more stable than Windows XP. | ||
