One week has gone by as I have offically decided to play the race of Protoss. Sometimes I wish to go back on my decision and play Terran but that’s neither here nor there.
I have ended the week with a loss streak into a few wins here and there. It is saddening to me that in my adjustment I had to lose a ton of games. It was funny that when I started playing this week I had breached top eight and maintained that for the week until yesterday and today. After a string of losses I am back in the top 20 T_T.
I have to say I think that it is just me getting used to the fact that I am no longer playing random anymore. Some losses were just stupid cheese (game on daybreak where the kid canon rushed me and said he was afk for the game and his forge was in my base T_T. so dumb of me) and others were just like wtf how do I win moments. Usually the how do I win moments I look back and see some mistakes that I’m making and then realize that all the games I play and I lose, I made an error or have done something not right to respond to my enemy. That leads me to give myself the sense of this game isn’t about me vs. my opponent; rather it is me vs. myself. This game is indeed brutal where one mistake can lose you the game but I feel that this game is all about defeating all your setbacks and making your game perfect. Some things I have noticed while looking back at my games.
Probes and Pylons
This cannot be stressed enough, I continually see myself get supply blocked and still need to make probes as the later the game goes on I stop making them. The last game I played tonight had some minor hiccups but I saw a huge improvement when I focused on the basics.
Army composition and movement
Sometimes I am so far ahead but I lose games because I did not have the correct composition. It seems self explanatory but sometimes I derp and make some composition that really doesn’t work. Movement wise I sometimes catch myself just a-moving and watching the battle. It is something I really need to work on and get a better attack position/concave etc. I am well suited with macro and love it. If only my hands were faster.....
Basics
Simple enough, I have to stop thinking about meta game and late game ideas. I have to start from the ground up and when I do that (making probes, macro have good upgrades etc.) I actually do better than if I were to think about the other things. I am still only a gold league player, so I need to nail down the fundamentals until I hit diamond or even masters. I feel that even players in Diamond have issues with fundamentals but not at the level I am at. So if i continue to work on them then I have no doubts I can get to the higher level.
Since the losses I decided to watch Dignitas Apollo’s videos on youtube on the Protoss tutorial all four parts today. And taking some internal notes; played a pvp on ohana and this was my result:

I guess that I will be looking closer into the videos and dissect them so I can get the three basic builds down and get up to Diamond. Hopefully that will be good for me. Here is the first video and hopefully you get something out of it.
