This week's mix is made of of tracks with glitchy sounds in them. The artists have embraced the nature of electronic music and made the clicks, pops, squawks and static a part of their songs rather than avoiding them. A lot of musical territory is explored here. You'll find beautiful melodies emerging from plains of calm and quiet as well as forests of chaos and noise. You'll flow along with all sorts of beats from classic idm to hiphop to techno, and sometimes drift along with no beat at all. The people you encounter will speak in short chopped samples, sweet poppy vocals and even as a distant crowd. It's a pretty fun little trip, I hope you enjoy it and discover something new.

On the live music front I went to free outdoor Miguel Atwood-Ferguson concert last Friday in downtown Los Angeles. It was part of the Grand Performance series that takes place every summer in a little auditorium near a fountain amongst some office buildings. You can being food and booze or buy it from the shops nearby, picnic and enjoy the nice weather. Luckily one of my unemployed friends was able to go 3 hours early and secure us some sweet seats, it fills up crazy fast once people get off work and I had to fight my way through traffic to get there.

The music was pretty good for a free show. MAF's ensemble has some really talented musicians in it and the jazzy stuff they opened with was fantastic. Then they played a Jackson 5 cover in tribute to MJ which was pretty lame and pandering, but they redeemed themselves by bringing Aloe Blacc out to do a pretty sweet Guru tribute. Flying Lotus helped out on about a third of the songs which is always fun and interesting, though sometimes it was tough to tell what exactly he was contributing. I've posted my videos of them doing Tea Leaf Dancers below. Two parts because my D90 has a silly arbitrary 5 minute video length limit and my computer kept crashing when I tried to output the combined file.

Hopefully the awesomeness of it doesn't distract you into a completely unproductive state!
