Must watch for any CT/TAS fan. Unless you haven't played Chrono Trigger, in which case by all means finish it before watching, although this run won't spoil much...

not exactly in the same category as the other games you listed, but its a great, chill strategy game that seems to draw in a lot of frustrated sc players

More of a puzzle than anything else. You basically get to see the line of sight of every soldier, and they are patrolling in a certain way. You need to find a hole in their way of patrolling and try to sneak by/kill them silently in a number of ways with specially trained troops. Every 'commando' has their specialties. The game is really hard if you play it on hard settings. It can also be co-oped online. I've played both Commandos 1 and Commandos 2 for a bit now, and can recommend both of them. Commandos 2 is a lot more complex though, ten times as many options on what to do, ten times more things to consider etc..

Contra 3 - same thing here, except alot faster paced obviously Mega Man X - solid mm game, great sountrack Castlevania 4 - alittle clunky but absolutely amazing soundtrack Super Mario Kart - yeah Zelda 3 - classic game UN Squadron - great shooter that gives you a different take on the genre, excellent music score! Axelay - probably the most intense/interesting action music written for the snes Gradius 3 - my favorite gradius, again, amazing soundtrack, fast paced gameplay Donkey Kong Country - great soundtrack production Zombies ate my Neighbors Final Fantasy 2-3 Secret of Mana - play this RPG with a friend or two ![]() Earthbound - best soundtrack production F Zero

Also Zelda: A link to the past is quite nice. But the MUST PLAY GAME is Grim Fandago. It is the greates game of all time, even better than Final Fantasy 7 and Starcraft (combined?). You should have a guide when playing it. Since sometimes it can be hard and you can easely quit. But if you can get past that, it is the best game you will ever play!

Both were originally released only in Japan but both have well done english translation versions that you can find. My personal favourite game for the SNES is Ogre Battle, which I have been playing again since I got it working on my DS. It's kind of an odd choice though, many will not like it's potentially tedious gameplay.

Also look for Jurassic Park 2 if you like a contra type of shooting game.(Far different from Jurassic Park 1 though and 10x funner) Both these games came out right around the time PS1 was released and didn't get much attention b/c of the release of the PS1, but these two games are truly worth playing.

Dragon Quest 5 and 6 - I liked the remake on the DS (of 5, 6 isn't even close to coming out) more than the SNES version, but if you don't have your hands on the DS definitely check out the DQ5 remake

Earthbound - Great series. Although Earthbound is often called a 'Hit or Miss' title, I enjoyed every bit of it. CT - DONT STEAL THE CHICKEN SRSLY FF6 - Only Final Fantasy worth playing (next to FF9) SoM1/2 - Best music scores... EVER. I would stay just for the music CONTRA - Rage Quit still in effect even though you cheated Zelda - Cmon. Zelda dude Super Mario RPG - AWEEESOMEEE! But too easy D: Kirby Superstar - Yeah if you have the DS version, don't play this. But great game! Castlevania IV - Castlevania. Enough said Dragon Quest Series - Great game. Nothing else needs to be said. Metal Marines - People don't mention this enough, but basically its like an RTS game with robots and missiles. PS: I didn't put mario world and metroid because it should be the first 2 games you play on the SNES

Ogre Battle - forget Fire Emblem games with all their god-tier characters; OB is one of the best strategy games on console ever Tactics Ogre - probably the best isometric grid TRPG ever, but the SNES version is only in Japanese RPG: Lufia 2 - awesome puzzle action in dungeons and an overall solid RPG Tales of Phantasia - there is a good English translation for this game; like Star Ocean, very good Seiken Densetsu 3 (SoM2) - great action RPG in most respects, but combat can be unfortunately shallow Action Adventure: Terranigma - one of the most interesting titles on SNES; combine dungeon exploration with awesome 2D fighting with the rebirth of the world with actually a decent plot Zelda: the Link to the Past - a classic for a reason Action/Platforming: Super Metroid - a classic for a reason Mega Man X1-3 - who doesn't like X-Buster? these games have pretty neat weapons for the series and nice controls Has anyone played Romancing SaGa 3? It's a very non-linear RPG in that there is no substantial storyline or sequence of events. You just do sidequests (dungeons) all day until you find out the one "real" quest to do. Whenever you complete the big quest, that's the end of the game. Levelling and combat are also fairly unique.

As far as SNES games....lots already mentioned... Earthbound Lufia Fire Emblem Star Ocean Breath of Fire I + II All good. Sim City 2000 is nice. Broken Sword are among the best games of all time (The first two point and click ones for the pc that is) Monkey island games are awesome. (The 3d one on the PC was well done as well) Grim Fandango is amazing. Zak Mccraken is awesome (even though I spelled it wrong) Really great game called The Last Express - EVERYONE SHOULD BUY AND PLAY THIS GAME. (Totally bolded for massive amounts of emphasis) Oh and Theme Hospital is sweet also.

Full explanation here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8001 Basically it takes two frames to save, and the savegame is therefore corruptible if you reset after 1. He uses it to duplicate items to fill up his inventory with all of one kind of item, which the programmers never accounted for, and it triggers a buffer overflow. The overflow exploit enabled him to "warp-in" characters at a whim. Many of the other glitches were well-known beforehand, and used in the previous any% run (which was 4 hours longer!)

SUPER METROID. Metroid: Zero Mission wasn't bad either, I guess. It's a lot more playable than the original Metroid in any case. Anything in the GBA Fire Emblem series. The first Fire Emblem released in English (just called "Fire Emblem" or sometimes "Fire Emblem: Rekka no ken") is the best of these, imo. Ikaruga is ridiculously hard, but still fun somehow. Maybe it's just because it's so pretty. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game. It's better if you play it with friends, but is pretty solid for one player as well.

When i mean "archaic" i mean it is a really oldschool game, with old ( but cute ) GFX, a really simple and clean interface, a basic inventory etc... But it is still good ! ( like all the other games of SNES i have named ). They are old, they look old, they are archaic but they are AWESOME ! It is a bit like bw or the good old PC games ( although they are less archaic ;d ) edit: my opinion might seem weird but i'm a PC gamer and although i started to play with the first game boy and some Commander Keens, my fav games were released around 98-2000 and are more complex than those SNES games. That's why i used this word but don't be offended i love those SNES classics too ![]()
