SUPER METROID. Metroid: Zero Mission wasn't bad either, I guess. It's a lot more playable than the original Metroid in any case. Anything in the GBA Fire Emblem series. The first Fire Emblem released in English (just called "Fire Emblem" or sometimes "Fire Emblem: Rekka no ken") is the best of these, imo. Ikaruga is ridiculously hard, but still fun somehow. Maybe it's just because it's so pretty. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game. It's better if you play it with friends, but is pretty solid for one player as well.

I used to play it at McDonalds when I was little..
Rocky Rodent?
on topic, definitely the Earthbound/Mother series. Mother 1/Earthbound 0 could be skipped if you're not fond of NES oldschool graphics/RPG gameplay, but Earthbound and Mother 3 are some of the most original and quirky games ever made.

Mega Man X Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Secret of Mana (even more fun if you beat it with a friend, you can play together via hamachi pretty easily)

Street Fighter II ( champion edition, turbo or new challengers. All are cool )
Some Gradius ( those games are hardcore :o )
BOMBERMAN and Super mario kart.
A link to the past ( Zelda ). This game might be a bit archaic nowadays but it has a SOUL. Listen and cry ( all the musics of this game are awesome ).
A Link to the Past Archaic? imo the gameplay is still much more fun than a lot of current releases, I just played through it a few months ago when I was on a SNES-emulator craze.
Oh and and to add to the list: Donkey Kong Country, all 3 of them are good but I think the first one of the best.

Well maybe i didn't use the "right" word. When i mean "archaic" i mean it is a really oldschool game, with old ( but cute ) GFX, a really simple and clean interface, a basic inventory etc...
But it is still good ! ( like all the other games of SNES i have named ). They are old, they look old, they are archaic but they are AWESOME !
It is a bit like bw or the good old PC games ( although they are less archaic ;d )
edit: my opinion might seem weird but i'm a PC gamer and although i started to play with the first game boy and some Commander Keens, my fav games were released around 98-2000 and are more complex than those SNES games. That's why i used this word but don't be offended i love those SNES classics too
coincidentally i was thinking about making a chrono trigger romhack (was screwing around in temporal flux) yesterday... but i have no ideas... wanna help? :D:D:D

If you like Chrono Trigger, try out the Lufia series (1 and 2), and of course the Final Fantasies for NES, and Secret of Mana (although I bet you know all these games already).
