I'm not going to backseat moderate but at the very least I'll offer you some opinions on what their thinking might have been...
This thread offers no analysis on your part. It offers very little room for legitimate discussion with a high chance of it degenerating into a shit storm. Essentially, it is one post of bleh content that is passable in blogs but not worthy of general.
The kpop discussion thread involved discussion............... as dumb as you may believe it to be....
The expensive clothing thread intrigued a lot of people even though it turned out to be nothing with nothing. It requested the community to come together. Again, not amazing by any means, but worthy of being placed in a forum where it will keep getting bounced up to the top.

Micronesia pretty much hit it.. This isn't a list I would like to see discussed, it should just be present for pure comedic value. Any sort of discussion about this list would well... turn the thread into a religious debate (=bad). This way the intent of the list is preserved

There's a fine line between the 'blog' and 'discussion' section at TL. I can't quite figure it out. I think a forum OP requires discussion on a topic somewhat ... mainstream? Blogs are personal essays that don't really go anywhere or provoke much discussion. Nonetheless, there is definite overlap between these loose definitions.
For instance this post offers no discussion beyond a possible flame war (LOLOL RELIGION VS ATHEISM). I read the list, I chuckled a bit, I moved on. Maybe ask us what our favourite one is? Maybe ask us to generate our own stuff? I don't know if that would keep it in General.

Which makes this a fail topic in the first place.
These kinds of religion vs science threads never turn out well. This isn't a topic that can be discussed easily even in the most objective and professional setting, much less TeamFuckingLiquid.
I'm not even religious, and these topics directly making fun of religious people piss me off.
