So almost every Progamer in Korea uses the Logitech Mini Optical Mouse. I hear many arguments for this. -Some people say that the older Progamers used this before all the good mouses ever came out (Razer..) and the current Progamers are just conforming.
-Others say that it IS a really good mouse to use for Starcraft.
Someone posted a link for NewEgg's deal of the $10 Logitech Mini Optical Mouse + free shipping. Since it is just $10, I decided to give it a try. Now for Starcraft, I've been using bigger mouses where I can rest my palm on.
Today, the mouse arrived! I quickly decided to play some games. I've noticed that.. my hand tires out easily. I do not get how anyone can use this. Like.. it feels like my hand is "tip-toeing" and never feeling quick balanced and rested because of the small size.
So yeah. I might go back to my larger mouses because they feel more comfortable.
P.S. I have no idea about all these DPI and High Sensivity stuff. They confused me lol..
Keep in mind, except for oov ( :p ), the average Korean is tinier than the average American. I don't think the gap is so vast that it warrants a complete separation between the brick that is the Logitech MX518 and the Optical Mini, but it may be a factor.
I use the logitech mini optical, at first it was "different" but I got used to it and now I absolutely love it, and I think that I have rather large hands.

I was using Logitech Mini Optical for about 2 years and when I decided to switch mouse for a bigger one it was so goddamn strange feeling :D Anyway I never had problems with that mouse but after some time, when I've grown up a bit it was uncomfortable to use that mouse.

Mini Optical I find a bit small. It's alright though I'm used to the g5 now.
I used to own with a basic microsoft 5 dollar special but that broke a long time ago. Before that I had a good old ball mouse before there even were optical mice. Those were good days. I can't even imagine playing sc anymore with a non optical/laser mouse.
I have a G5 and a LMO. No mouse4 = I can't even browse with a LMO. I am wholly dependent on it as a back button. I feel like I move the LMO faster than I do the G5, probably because of the size and the way I grip it is more with my fingers since I have pretty average sized hands for a 6' guy which is a little big for a LMO
The buttons on the LMO feel a little snappier, it's likely their size compared to the G5 buttons.
Either way neither mouse is going to win or lose me a game

Fantasy can reach ctrl-0 with one hand. Does he use that mouse too? I mean I have huge hands and can reach ctrl-9 -_-

I have an LMO and while the shape is pretty good, the sensor is pretty much trash (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=97561). I have a G1 as well which has a much nicer sensor while still having a more appropriate shape for RTS games. I'm keen to try the new Steelseries Kinzu too.

Same. I used to use the G5 and Mx518 and then I switched to the Logitech Mini. At first it was a bit weird and my hands are not that small but I've gotten use to it.
The dpi is 800, terrible for most games. But the mini optical is small and easy to move (momentum wise). You don't hold it like a normal mouse. Your movements are faster. Still there are better minis. I think Koreans should spend more on their gaming accessories. When I see youtube videos of pros practicing starcraft it's always on the crappiest of computers. 24:31
And this mouse is terrible for fps or rpg sniper ums.
I know this because I used a mini for a good portion of a year. My mini broke after I touched the inside of the usb rod that plugs into your computer. Weird, now even though my computer recognizes the usb, and my mouse has batteries, and I've reset a million times, when I move the mouse nothing happens. It's like the mouse's receiver is broken. I do not recommend the mini optical for starcraft. Try a better mini with a higher dpi. You play SC a lot, the least you can do is spend $50 to buy a better mouse for it.

hehe yeah I have seen a lot of pictures with koreans pros and they tend to have long fingers for some reason lol, could be from overpractice I remember my guitar teacher -his left fingers were much longer than his right but before I meant the hand as the basic structure(I dont know the english word) is smaller and thinner compared to white men. anyway i started with a small mouse and it was very hard to be precise plus my hand was getting tired after a few games!

Mouse DPI (CPI) is the equivalent to pure APM; they have more to do with egos than performance. 800 DPI is perfectly fine.
There's different styles for holding mice. Not everyone is comfortable with a claw grip so if you can't get used to it, you might want to try an IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 (king of mice) or a MX518 (G5, but without the crappy laser sensor.)
If you wanna go for something similar with Mimi Optical Mouse but better quality and especially for notebooks, I would go for Logitech VX Revolution. That's what I use and it's very convenient and easy. And it works really well too. I tried (still have for my desktop) and used MX 518 and I liked it very much, but nothing compares to my precious VX Revolution! ^_^
In this thread, we talk about how DPI means a lot, and completely ignore hertz. And all of our scientific information has been gathered by "playing with it for awhile".
On a serious note, if you don't know anything about mice, please don't just assume.

I think it's an accomplishment that people try things at all before forming an opinion. Think about all those Mac haters who have never owned a Mac (or PC haters who have never owned a PC). Or better yet, how many of the people on this site who always talk shit about WoW/RA/other non-SC games (myself included) have actually tried them?
To stay on topic, I use a 400dpi mouse, which is fine for SC when I set sensitivity to max and acceleration off. But, when I switch to my higher-resolution desktop, it moves in units of about 4 pixels. Any way around this other than getting a better mouse or manually resetting the mouse settings every time you play SC?
I hold my Mini Optical the Junwi used to hold his: not holding it straight so that both fingers are over each button, but moving the mouse a little to the left so that your thumb is resting beside the left button (and close to your index finger). It feels weird at first, but if you have long, boney hands like me, it's comfortable.
I forgot to mention that I'm also asian with average 5'5 height lol.. I am using it at 5/11 sensivity.. for some reason 6/11 seems really fastfor me. I don't feel pain using it.. just weird because my hands tremble because it's not firmly placed onto the mouse (because I can't since it's so small).
dpi is the rate at which the mouse samples movement
if one mouse has 500 dpi and another mouse has 1000 dpi at the same sense, the 1000 dpi mouse will move twice as fast as the other one
if you half the sensitivity of the 1000 dpi mouse, the movement will be the same speed, but far more accurate to the precise motion of your hand, as the sensor is tracking the motion twice as often (not to mention high dpi mice have generally more accurate sensors all around) there is an important exception to this - if you have such an extremely low sens that the mouse is only moving a fraction of a pixel every snapshot, then the high dpi does nothing.
to crank the sens of a high dpi mouse all the way up is pretty stupid, unless you have such good coordination that you can manage things with millimeter precision. sounds like a great way to give yourself carpal tunnel to me personally, but if it's working for you, then hey, that's cool
in fps games, lower sensitivity is generally considered conductive of more accurate movements. some professional counterstrike players do things like tape a grid of mousepads together because they seriously need that much space at their sens. i don't have a clue how this translates to rts games, it's not really the same type of motions at all.
That post is mostly wrong. The only point of high DPI is to allow people with a high sensitivity to obtain a higher level of precision. It also has almost nothing to do with tracking accuracy.
