Does anybody in the forum have type two diabetes? Recently, i dunno if its the increasing hot weather, ive had such a dry throat resulting in an increased thirst, resulting in me going to the bathroom way more often. I dont have any other symptoms such as blurred vision or extreme hunger or even losing weight that often.
I have no family history of diabetes.
I am not overweight. 22 on bmi scale.
I go to the gym everday?
What could it be? My dad who is a korean acupuncturist says im getting over my head and my pharmacist mom says the same thing. But im getting a little worried now.

Can anybody in the forum who has type 2 diabetes explain my symptoms?

P.S. my brother who sleeps in the room beside me says i snore REALLY loud and i found out that people who snore alot get a really sore throat .>

thanks for the read.

OH SHIT. I think I'm fucked. BRB, looking up symptoms of diabetes.

Edit: Yup, got the symptoms, will check with my doctor soon, and stay away from sugar until then. Thanks!

Are u overweight?
Do you parents have type 2/ type 1?
Do you feel really hungry/ tired?

Then you should go to the doctor.

I still need insight from a type 2 diabetic in tln.et

Am I overweight? Well, I'm pretty average right now, but I went from being really, really skinny to average in a relatively short while. Noone in my family have any kind of diabetes. I definately have been feeling tired more than often lately. Really hungry? Well, going back to the weight question I guess I have. I mean, there's no way I'm not on the express train to diabetes town, It's summer vacation and I'm pretty much just sitting around all day, drinking 3+ liters of coke a day. -.-

Well, I have type one. When my sugar is high I:
- Use the washroom a lot
- Fell dehydrated / dry mouth
- Not hungry
- Very easily frustrated
- Feel hot
- Feel "pressure" (hard to explain)

I doubt this helps.

When you say you feel hot, does it mean like during the summer and you get all sweaty and want to like explode? Rofl, bad explanation but i hope you understand what im getting at.

Using the washroom a lot- how much is a lot? 5 times an hour?
Very easily frustrated- Sorry for getting up too close to your life which i shouldnt, but is it like, extreme tantrums etc?

Thanks.

How about food? What to eat to avoid diabetes? I guess salads and stuff, but how about cheese, breads, meat? Yes/no?

How about asking a medical professional instead of the internet?
I know which one I'd trust.

Because there are numerous people on TL who have a profession in medicine?

Besides I'd rather get answers free from someone who has diabetes, then pay for some doctor to tell me the exact same thing.

Do you know anyone with Type I/II diabetes? If so you could answer your own question in about 5 seconds ^^ Just ask them if you can check your blood sugar(make sure to use a clean finger pricker thing). Under 105 or so is pretty compelling argument that you are not diabetic. If you are only slightly above that and I would fast for 6~ hours and check again. If you are like 130+ or still 110+ after fasting you should go see a doctor.

But yeah, no one is going to be able to tell you yes/no over the internet. There are other conditions which can cause the same symptons. It's very likely you may just be dehydrated.

I don't have it yet, but I am almost sure I will.

-Both of my parents have developed type 2.
-I am not really overweight, but I definitely don't work out as much as I should.
-I have no sort of diet whatsoever, I just eat what I want to when I am hungry. (I eat a lot of fruit, but that still has sugar, so when you are talking about diabetes it is pretty much as bad as candy. )
-I have poor circulation in my legs. (In the time it takes to play one game of starcraft, both of my legs will fall COMPLETELY asleep. )

By the way, if anyone has questions regarding life with Type I Diabetes, Diabetes management, the biology behind it or any other questions I'd be more than happy to answer them. I'm a fountain of knowledge on this subject. I've had type I diabetes for 10+ years and my aunt is an endocrinologist with whom I've had most fascinating discussions. (sorta off topic but hey, its a thread called diabetes!)

All I wanna know is, with type 2, will I still be able to drink coke? Life's not worth living without my daily dose of coke. I'm assuming no so I'll be watching my diet from now on for sure.

I think it's more important to not over react and start self diagnosing before you even know whats going on. You had no reason to believe you had type II diabetes until you read this blog? It's like a case of med student syndrome where one believes they posess the symptons of every illness one reads about. However to answer your question, if you were to be diagnosed with Type II diabetes you would need to talk to your own doctor about a diet plan. Although it is pretty safe to say that soda, as a food with a higher glycemic index(how rapidly it affects your blood sugar) is something that you would be advised.

P.S. I know its cliche advice, but soda really is one of the worst things you can ingest even aside from the point of view of a diabetic. If you can make the switch to diet, do so; it is just so much healthier.

Med student syndrome? Maybe. But I've been feeling the syndromes specifically for a couple of weeks, and really had no idea of what they were before. I'll check with a doctor for sure though, because my eating habits are terrible.

Ok

Diabetes type 2

Risk factors
- Being overweight
- Doing fuck all exercise
- Having family members who have type 2 diabetes
- Being a smoker
- Being of African American or Hispanic ethnicity

Symptoms
- Needing to pee often
- Being very thirsty
- Being very hungry
- Being tired a lot

The risk factor list will tell you how high risk you are at of developing diabetes. Being overweight is a HUGE risk factor, so take that into consideration.

If you are experiencing some of those symptoms and are at risk, then you should go to the doctor and get a fasting glucose test as soon as possible.

To the OP - Its doubtful that you have type 2 diabetes. You dont seem like the type. You also dont have many of the classic symptoms we would expect to see. Still, go see a doctor if the symptoms persist.
