Neat picture. But more than making me feel insignificant, this just makes me wish that there were some way I could hope to know what some of those countless solar systems might hold. Guess I'm going to hold out for some kind of ridiculous breakthrough that allows us to traverse the galaxy in less than a month's time. Come on hyperdrive generator..

Im pretty sure its impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, and this is the reason:
If there are so many (infinite?) galaxies out there, theres not really a question of whether or not there is intelligent life out there, and some of them have been around longer / are naturally smarter than us humans, so we probably would've been visited by now if it was possible.

Since it hasnt happened by now im pretty sure its never going to

Another thing this made me think of is not how small we are, but how big we might be.
I dont think we know for sure what the smalles object is, and we probably never will know for sure. So it kinda goes both ways.

Haven't read about any theories of a universe with infinite galaxies, but then again the idea of static universe was held in regard for a while.

I'm not much of a believer in abductions. If a civilization was that advanced I would expect them to simply watch how our people tick, with no interference. Like the scientists of the Discovery channel as they stalk and film the lions of Africa, even though their ways of observing aren't perfect and they are often seen by the lions. What we end up with is hours of information on that particular animal, but none of the scientists bother to try and converse with it or meddle in it's affairs. The exception being when an animal is becoming extinct and needs support.

I like your last paragraph a lot. The tiny strikes me as more intriguing then the large, because I would rather see how it comes to be then to just see how it is. I'm on the opposite end of your pessimism of finding the better way. With an infinite universe, I can't really see all the laws of physics to be anything more than styrofoam cups in the path of lava.

Yeah I was gonna mention that, but all it takes is one single civiliazation who thinks its good/interesting to make contact with another planet..and if you think about how many possible "earths" there are in the universe, its bound to be at least one who wants to make contact.

Then again, they might make contact with someone else than us, so I kinda owned myself there..

But I like the idea of seperated civilisations, and by this I mean such an immense distances between them so that it would be impossible to visit each other. In that way, we wouldnt even know if it would be amnything near what were experiencing here in terms of basic chemistry, maby its different atoms and shit and for all we know its something completely insanely different than our world.

Sorry if this doesnt make any sense what so ever couse im drunk as fuck now and just pulling stuff out my ass.

If this is a serious statement think about how naive you are, our sun is just one, there are so many out there it is likely that there is one almost exactly the same as ours and a planet almost the same our the one we live on, I won't deny that we may be the meaning of our SOLAR SYSTEM at the most but to say we're the meaning of the universe is simply foolish.
