Well i have recently went to my dads place to visit him for a month or so...well, he lives in the middle of nowhere and doesnt getting any decent speed internets...im currently running ~netzero highspeed 3G~ or some shit like that...well it "increases" the speed of the net but i CAN NOT for the life of me play a game of starcraft without superlag or lagging out...and i know for a fact that regular dialup runs better...idk what the fuck...anyone have any ideas so i can play some sc?

maybe his.. comp sucks? Try single player, if it lags then yea..

edit: just wishful thinking, as its hard to believe any comp cannot run sc perfectly

In my experience, dial up works ok when you play starcraft. It shouldn't be netzero's fault. You should try to ping yourself though. (speedtest.net?)

Since you're using dial up, there's no router to open ports with. I'm not sure how dial up works. Maybe there's settings in the 56k modem?

Back in the day I used to play on bnet on dial up. As long as I stayed in games with 4 or fewer people it was totally lag free! :D

263ms is actually really good latency for 3G wireless. That's probably best case scenario and your in game performance isn't ever going to be better.

This isn't 3g wireless. Netzero is advertising dial up as "highspeed 3g" which is completely stupid because dial up is not 3g. They're just tricking people who have no idea what 3g is.

This problem likely has to do with how they 'speed up' dialup. To do that, they take everything you would receive and compress it before sending it down to you. This adds latency, but improves download speeds for stuff like webpages and images. They probably don't filter the packets though, so they're compressing SC's packets as well, thus resulting in the added latency.
