Connecting my laptop to TV somehow.

So, I wanna connect my laptop which is an HP Pavillion dv5:

To my 5 year old TV which only has I believe the regular 3 color composite port.

In addition, I dunno how this might be relevant, I have this home theater system that has HDMI connectivity:

So would someone explain a way for me to watch stuff on TV?

all you need are video cables... basically if both ends of the cable fit, you're good to go (just change your tv input setting to whatever cable you decided to use: s-video, hdmi, component, etc)

I dont know if you can connect a non HDMI tv to a computer without a lot of trouble and hassling... might be easier to just buy an HDMI capable tv?

Or just buy a big monitor... 21" Never leaves me wanting for more screen real estate, and movies look great.

by the looks of it I don't think you will be going very far. The home theater system equipped with the HDMI is only an output so can't do nothing with that. My best bet is finding a vga to rca(composite) cables.

Also it didn't seem as your laptop had s-video connection? Didn't read it on the specifications at least.

Yeah the only possible thing I can think of is the VGA to composite cable. Thanks anyways.

VGA to composite cable is the way to go if your TV doesnt have svideo, vga or hdmi.

I fricken hated this question with a passion back when I worked at Best Buy.

I had this convo almost every day:

"How can I connect my laptop to my tv?"
"what kind of laptop do you have? What kind of tv do you have?"
"I dunno- how do I do it?"
