started my van. Was moving sluggish like sweet tooth.

Stopped, checked my tires. Right front flat. Fucking rusty old wood staple in the tread. I don't have a bike pump or anything to fill it temporarily either.I don't have AAA.

If I call around locally to shops do they normally charge extra to send a guy out? Otherwise I'm gonna skateboard somewhere and buy a bike pump/air compresser and just take it to a gas station or something.

Yeah, most places will charge to tow your vehicle.

On an unrelated note, on the way back from spring break, our car broke down.

We left it in a parking lot in Georgia.

Do you have a spare? I'm guessing not. Sounds like you need to pay for a tow unfortunately...

edit: your van seems more like dark tooth

Yea, you can pump a tire, it just takes forever. I remember my uncle had a tractor tire and me and 4 other cousins all took like 2 or 3 sets of 200 pumps each.

lol random micronesia guides always there to save the day.

You know, you gotta make sure the tire fits your wheel too. You can't just go around using random spare tires in the garage haha

AAA services the driver... not the car. They would have to lie and say that it is their car.

changing a tire is one of the easiest things you can do. Also dont like all vehicles come with either a spare tire, or at least a donut? (small temporary tire). Unless you got the van used and someone else already used it.

also, if its just a small hole from a staple, then just goto a hardware store or something, and buy a patch kit. It's basically a long sticky thick string looking thing that you ram into the hole, and it plugs it up really well. My brother ran over a 2 inch screw and after using a patch kit on it, it hasnt deflated yet.

here is a link to exactly what I am talking about. This will show you step by step how to plug the hole in your tire the proper way, and the kit only costs $5

OK besides all the people who didn't actually read the 10 lines from 3 posts. MY gf showed up and the old spare tire that was from my car originally had a crack and was unusable.

She also came to the rescue with a electric pump, jack, and tire iron. The tire iron was really cheap and felt like it was going to snap. I wasn't sure where to put the jack so I was in double danger. I didn't have a pipe to put on the wrench so it was a huge bitch to do. I popped all kinds of blood vessels, bruised the shit out of my hands, and the plastic paint/coating on the wrench actually cracked/flaked off at the bend from the stress. I kept thinking the thing was gonna snap and smash my teeth or something. Each nut made this sickening SNAP/CRUNCH sound when I got it loose. So after like 20+ minutes I got them all loose.

So I took the busted tires to a tire place down the street. Old tire was cracked on side wall beyond repairs, they couldn't repair the other because there were 3 or 4 screws/nails in the tire (never gonna drive behind trucks again). And the valve came out so they said just get a new tire. 60$- no thanks, guy was cool and understood and sent me to a gas station where they do used tires. Gas station garage was closed (just after 5pm).

I had to go to the bank to get cash so my gf could get gas and we decided to get some food also. While there, I noticed an Auto Zone and they told me to go down the street to Discount Tire, they have used stuff for like 10$. (thank god for 1800goog411 and the text messaging info service).

After a struggle to actually get to the tire place (really bad entrance/location), they tell me they don't do used tires and couldn't fix it either. Said 80-90$ for new one, told me just down the street (lol again) to Ruan's; they have tons of used tires.

GF getting really impatient and tired a this point.

We go there and it's a win. The Mexican guys are basically doing nothing and it's instant service. Problem is they don't have my size of tire 205/70/15, the best he could find was 215/70/15, the wheel is a few inches taller. They were training their teenaged brother and he did it all right there while I watched and replaced the broken valve and everything. 25$, I ask the guy if it doesn't work out if I can come back and he says sure.

So we came back with Carl's Jr and I scarfed it all down. Went back out and had to pump the jack up the extra few couple inches to line it up with the screws. Tightened em all up and took her for a spin around the neighborhood. The alignment is pretty off (but it was already off before anyways lol). Maybe the right pull it used to have now replaced by the left pull will balance out.

Seemed ok, car doesn't look funny from the front either. I think it'll be fine (unless someone says otherwise?). When I parked I did noticed about 3 oz of oil in a pool which, after investigation, came from the left axle. I'm thinking since I left it propped on the jack it was dripping oil off the top from a weird angle or something.

If I don't post tomorrow in the afternoon I probably died. Wish me luck, lol

you know?
let me share some facts:

here in chile you cant get a license if you dont know at least in theory how to change a tire...

Also, you dont get the vehicle`s circulation permisson unless it has one extra tire, if your vehicle uses different diametter on front and rear tires then you need two, each diametter.

Once a year you need to do a full check, the cops ask you for that check certificate each time they stop a car, and the checking includes the extra tire(s if 2 needed) and the toolset to change it.

I changed my first tire ever with my dad when i was like 8 years old.

I have done it many times in small vehicles, vans, big vehicles and in a tolva truck once... is the same shit ever.

therefore U SUCK.

How do I suck? I've never changed a tire before and didn't read any guide how to do it. Its pretty fucking simple and easy. The hard part was getting the tools, untightening the machine gun tightened nuts without getting stabbed, and then get the replacement for a deal.

This doesn't seem like a long term solution to your tire problems...

It's very bad to drive around with tires that don't match :-(

In the short term if you don't feel anything major then it's okay... but it seriously shouldn't be a long-term solution. You need four equal tires with similar wear, and preferably rotated occasionally. The last thing you want is uneven tire wear leading to an unexpected spin out in bad weather etc...

lmfao...u sir need tools. I have about 5k's worth. And yea if u didn't know...if ur wearing two different sizes pair of shoes I don't believe u would like it. Then again it depends on how u mix and match as well.

Edit: P.S. It depends on tire sizes when i say "mix and match".
