I can't wait to get better equipment myself :x just working with a kit lens atm and a rebel xsi On June 17 2009 09:52 VIB wrote: Looks great. Have those pics been edited in any way? Yes, the ones I have on the thread here are a combination of 3 separate images taken milliseconds after another. With this technique I am able to get both the bright clouds in correct lighting and the foreground such as the flowers or the mountains with a good lighting to them. After that I just edit to make sure to reduce the amount of noise in the image, and to correct the exposure and color to make it as accurate as possible to what I was looking at when I took the photo.

My only advice for landscapes is just to go out there and shoot! Landscapes really come alive when you are there at the right moment. Usually right before sundown :p, or when the light is acting odd in the sky. Pay attention to how the light is reacting to the objects around you throughout the day and you'll know when its a good day for shooting. Having something in the foreground, and an intresting horizon in the background makes your image look great as well.

Thanks for the good advice - I've found a few high points in Seoul and I'm planning to go test them out as soon as my new set up is ready to go (August time probably.) I'm hoping to shoot Seoul from a distance at different times of day/in different weather conditions.

Perhaps this is personal preference, but I think the contrast is a little too strong in a few of them. I like the idea that you're going for, but it's strong enough that it makes it a little uneasy for me to look at. It makes me feel like I have to squint against the bright spots in order to see the detail in the dark spots.
