I've suffered from insomnia before, not getting any significant sleep for about a week and I've never felt worse in my life. Actually, you couldn't pay me to subject myself to something like that. On that note, I'm going to sleep. Mmmmmmmm. I see your week and raise you another week. And yeah, shit totally sucked. I might have felt worse when I had chicken pox or something, but that was when I was 6 and I don't really remember. Oddly, I can still deal pretty well with all nighters and low sleep situations to a point. Anything past about 30 hours is just totally not worth it, though.

Also other than saying its "stupid", what is your reasoning for staying up being a bad thing? I've read quite a few reports written by people who stayed up for 7,8,9+ days. They all had an (arguably) good time watching the walls melt and stuff. Thats what i'm trying to do, to see if i have that kind of endurance.

Success! IT WAS HORRIBLE OMG just go to sleep... I never could go to sleep correctly after fucking my sleep pattern up like that. @_@ I did experience hallucinations though, but, not any grand ones or anything. I'd think my mom was in my room sometimes and I could hear her talking to me and everything but, then I'd realize it's 5:00 a.m. in the morning and she's asleep and couldn't possibly be anywhere near me. I'd see lights at the peripherys of my eyes, shadows that didn't belong to some objects, weird light animals that would crawl on the ceiling and some tunnel vision sometimes(and this was before I had tried any drug.. I hadn't even gotten drunk yet. I had no idea what a drug experience was like back then). It wasn't like 'woaaaaah omg awesome' when it was happening though; I was scared as shit when I'd hear my mom calling me and all these strange noises throughout the night. Worst 6 days ever~ XD

GRAVITY STOPPED *flies up to ceiling* edit: I also put a chunk of Xanax on the end of a joint and smoked it this one time. It made me see my dead Grandmother and she asked why I didn't cry at her funeral and why I was texting with some 14 year old when I could have been banging 17-18 year olds the entire time. Neverrrrrrr again... I seal my own coffin too many times XP edit2: Those strange light animals were like lizards that were different colors honestly... they'd 'spawn' from the corners and run around the ceiling, lighting up my walls with different colors, faint like modem lights, though.

Believe me, it is difficult to die from lack of rem sleep. After 9-10 days the body starts taking "micro-naps", where you slip into rem sleep, which is what causes the hallucinations. Dont believe me? i'll post sources. edit: the thing is, with that disease, the people become unable to sleep. Its not like they have some magical tolerance to the effects of not getting deep sleep.

Please post the sources because im fucking certain that you start taking micro naps after 2-3 days alone, of course you dont remember any of them, and they may not enter rem stage. But after 9-10 days you start doing so? Believe me, this is not a very studied subject.

At the beginning of the 2nd paragraph of your first source, it explicitly says 'First of all, insomnia and sleep deprivation are two different things' When the article's name is 'Can insomnia be fatal?' Im not even gonna bother with the yahoo answers one. Your 3rd link is a question with no fucking answers lol. But i see your point, 60 bucks is fine for almost killing myself.

the answers to the third source are below the question... http://www.sleepnet.com/insomnia12/messages/667.html http://www.sleepnet.com/insomnia12/messages/647.html http://www.sleepnet.com/insomnia12/messages/640.html and yes, i'll admit the yahoo answers one is a bit tenuous, but the thing is all of the sources contain the same information, which probably points to the fact that its common knowledge. staying up for a week would not kill me

though there are probably a lot of options similar to my idea. You and your friend should buy 2 wow accounts with the invite a friend promo (if its still on). It means you level faster if you play together. Power level the accounts while you are both awake together for so long and then sell them and make a couple of hundred bucks in the process. If any one else has any money making ideas for ghermination and his mate i'd be interested to hear. -zfr
