n.DieJokes United States3443 Posts June 07 2009 00:28 GMT #21 I know how you feel, I started gaming right around the time Super Smash Brothers came out, g-d that was an awesome game but thats besides the point. I feel like Fable was the last good game I played on console. All the sequels, Fable 2, the newer Halos, in fact any game released on the new generation I just haven't been able to enjoy. Their all broken, in some small way sure, but still to much for me to enjoy. Example, Resident Evil 5, that game was too shitty for me to enjoy on any level. Why have a cpu ally but not split screen? Why can't I run and shoot? Why is the dialog so awful, if its so awful why are they featuring it so prominently? Just every game leaves me with a bunch of "why are so doing it so terribly, someone must have caught this" and no fun. The only games I can play are sc, chess and a few random flash games (check out N and Crimsonland).        It's not like I hate them because their new, its because their so unforgivably bad. Tech specs, what it looks like, those don't matter to me; I wanted a well made, MULTI LAYERED game. I want a game that wants me to play and games now a days games seem to busy slapping me with their overpriced cocks. Lol, wow, I'm a loser, but the point still stands; show me a game today and I'll show it's unforgiveable mistakes

Every since man invented the wheel, technology has dictated how we live our lives. I'm pretty sure the caveman of yesteryear would be perfectly fine spending 2 hours sitting by the fire, doing nothing but feeling warm and fuzzy. Nowadays, if a webpage doesn't load instantly, people get pissed and check to see if their internet is down. This is also seen for video games. This youtube/facebook/twitter generation, a generation of people who have never lived WITHOUT internet, demands things NOW. That's why you have easy games with good visuals for instant gratification. The gameplay is capable of developing with the visuals but it won't because noone wants to spend time learning the intricacies of a game. Of course I'm generalizing here, there are still people who prefer gameplay - basically, everyone here who appreciates starcraft. But we are a diminishing crowd in a sea of 'Fred' lovers

I found out I get motion sickness from newer HD FPS games, I get bored of the crap gimmicky gameplay of other RTS games, and I don't have the patience to sit through entire RPG games (the only one I've ever finished is FFVII). Newer games coming out are mostly crap, indeed. I don't think old ones were necessarily great. They were great for their time, and it may be the nostalgia factor that is adding a lot of positives to them now. The old ones are definitely good, just...not amazing. I just seriously fucking wish developers would put more money into gameplay and balance...graphics are only fun for the first week or two.
