Anyway, since this is a L4D thread and people are talking about survival; I planned to get gold survival medal on every map but gave up after not being able to find enough good players in the random games I was joining to do this. I have 3 maps left that I need gold on: Lighthouse, Construction Site and Church - I think the hardest 3 survival maps there are. If anyone wants to get gold on these too please let me know.

I play on the 360. When playing with the AI I always stayed on ground floor, right smack in the middle of the house in a spot where I could spin around 180 degrees and pretty easily fire out whichever door they were coming in. I mostly used my akimbo pistols until they ran out of ammo (edit: empty and in need of reloading while infected are still rushing towards you) or the horde got too close, in which case I'd switch to the auto shotgun, bash them away and destroy the entire line of infected. The reason I stay there is not because it's tactically smart, but because the AI is tactically dumb. It's a defensible spot when you get used to it, and you can come to the aid of any AI pretty easily. Even so, it'll almost certainly take several tries to get it. Also, go outside when the Tank appears. You can bait him, running around the house and hitting him with the shotgun, staying out of his reach all the way. Get back inside once he's dead. If you can, save a pipe bomb. Once the APC arrives, throw it nearby as a decoy and run to the APC. The AI is notorious for not running for safety, opting to stay outside and die. Let them. You'll beat the campaign anyway. Oh yeah, and it's a good idea to use Zoey. The Zoey NPC has a habit of picking up a hunting rifle. Good for special infected, not so good for the finale. Edit x2: It's also a good idea to turn on full captions. It's nice to be able to read the special infected warning/tank warning/rescue warning messages when you're in the middle of fighting.

The thing is that I know the best place to fight the horde off with humans is the barn because you can fuck up the tank AI by walking around the thing beams and it falls off, and you can easily cover the zombie entrances, but the AI seems determined to get surrounded at all points in the game. Would it be best to fight them OUTSIDE?! And stay in a tightly knit phalanx and just hope the AI doesn't suck too much? Yea, I beat the game on the second hardest difficulty. I tried the level from different areas of the house and even some other places. The best place to fight is just running backwards in a corner in sort of a circle. For a few reasons its better to fight outside here. (I used the top/north left area where there are logs and a water tower/mill ). First reason is you can see them running from really far away and take them down way before they get to you. 2nd reason is grenades and molitovs are harder to use in close places. 3rd is the AI is fucking dumb and they fall or get stuck or just do dumb shit. In an open space this doesn't happen so much. and 4th when the tank/humvee comes to pick you up at the end you can sort of follow/walk beside it like soldiers do IRL.
