What a waste, I was so excited for this film that thanks to the internet I was expecting to see the entire film, well it came in two parts only for the second part to be apparently the actual end that was the first part. I was wondering why the first part of the film was only 1 hour and 6 minutes the other 1 hour and 13 minutes. So apparently I only downloaded the first part of the film.

Total buzz kill. But what I have seen of the film kicks ass.

Worth the watch imo. I looked forward torrenting this movie, and i didn't regret torrenting it. The 2nd part is already out btw =p. Hong kong cienema is very underrated, and most of their movies are worth a watch if someone's really bored.

Hopefully there will be Korean subtitles (that are easy to find).

I always wondered: how do Westerners read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms? It's such a good classic; fortunately one of the translator/critic in Korea did a beautiful job - but I just can't see a good English translation as I think it has too much of oriental context.

Moss Roberts has a good translation up, as well as an abridged version. While the Three Kingdoms contains oriental context, Roberts does a good job with footnoting cultural aspects of the novel for Westerners.

Drawback though, I utterly despise the Wade-Giles romanization for Mandarin names.

By history, do you mean the novel? The movie is not exactly close to the actual history.

I haven't read the book but I though this movie was great! The only downside was that they kind of overdid the strength of the generals. They should have gone for a more realistc approach, but those fighting scenes were really entertaining!
Great movie, I definitely recommend to anyone who's remotely interested in war movies or strategy in general.

PS: I download movies etc... but this is the kind of movie you'd want to watch on a large screen with some great sound. If you've got that at home and can find a dvdrip then go ahead, but don't ruin the movie for yourself by watching it on a crappy laptop screen, or with 2.0 speakers, or in a sloppy divx quality.

I didn't watch it but how overstrengthen the generals? I don't really know about military psychology, but if I was facing a legendary general as a lowly footsoldier I would be pretty scared. And as the book said, "a clear path was made wherever ______ swept through".

Lol I got so hyped over this movie because I was in Hong Kong while the previews were running. Unfortunately it aired the day I left.

To make matters worse, it wasn't as good as I expected it to be when I finally watched it.

Both were very nice movies I thought, enjoyed watching. Had to learn all that history but wasn't as detailed as the actual battles etc in the movie of course, so was nice to see it acted out like that. =)

i didn't like this movie at all. i thought it was way too cheesy. the final battle with the reflective shields were just stupid imo. i also got the impression that the takeshi character would get orgasms every time the tony leung character made a brilliant strategic decision.
