Weird Computer Problem

So I finally broke down and got myself a HD 4870 card as my old Pixel Shader 2.0 card just wasn't cutting it anymore. However I have one weird problem.

Everytime I manually turn off my monitor, it almost seems like my videocard shuts down as well. Everything will be working fine, but if I turn off my monitor and then try and turn it on again, I get a blank screen, but my computer is still running. No matter what key I press or mouse click, the signal won't come back.

If I power off my computer and turn it back on, everything works fine again... Anybody have any ideas on what can be causing this?

uninstall catalyst control centre, reboot, download latest version from internet, install, reboot, try now

also remember to clock the card ("unlock" in CCC) and raise the fan speed (in the same window) to ~34%

I would think that your computer needs a new fan. If you used to have a shader 2.0 card......and then ONLY upgraded to your new card without ugprading anything else, u shud get a bigger fan or something. This is similar to what happens in overclocking. If you overclock too much, it does this to prevent the video card from burning/dsetroyings itself

I don't think its a heat issue racenilatr. I have the clock option on and manually set the fan speed to ~65% and my heat runs runs around 50 degrees idle.

I guess I'll try reinstalling CCC, though honestly I'm kinda scared haha. First time I installed it, it froze on windows loading screen on 1st restart, froze on desktop on 2nd restart, got stuck on bootup with no keyboard power on the 3rd restart, and finally kicking through and working on the 4th :D

Did the same for 1000, 1337, 666, and 1500. No problem! Just make every post special.
