I read it fine off just years of undergrad study. And I need to suck it up and go through Ecstacy properly, been putting that off forever. It took too long to read through everything and I got lazy :< I know
I have such a huge backlog of reading it isn't funny, haha, and the only way to ignore it is to actively find more new things to read and slack on too, such a horrible cycle.

If you guys are interested in VN's, here's a demo of the first and only english one (one that isn't from Japan), http://katawa-shoujo.com/ inspired by 4chan. It's being praised by a lot of people but I've yet to play it. It looks quite well done for an amateur work though.

GTR you are fairly good with the actual history right, Sengoku Basara is more action based stuff. As for RotK, Souten Kouro from this season features Cao Cao in a more protagonist setting. Which is imo a much better take from the usual Shu supremacy.

For a moment I thought RotK was Return of the King.

Now k-on raw needs to show omg~

Sengoku Basara is pure shit in comparison with Souten Koro.
|
That's questionable, just as some Japanese would be revolted at the idea of Nobunaga being in a protagonist role of a story, people without a good knowledge of RotK's actual history would be unable to stomach Cao Cao being portrayed this way.
I suppose 'objectively', it might not compare as nicely, but some people still won't like the idea of it.
|
I'm not talking about historical accuracy, as neither of them are very high up in that regard. But as an anime Souten Koro is in another league. Sengoku Basara was a bit promising first episode, but it's getting really worn out by now. The plot is only an extremely poor excuse for all these 'super cool' fighting scenes.
|
Nor was I, I was simply pointing out that Souten Koro might appeal to only a small subset of audiences due to the typical issues related to the character of Cao Cao. That makes it difficult to make a claim about Sengoku Basara being shit in comparison to something that could have a small niche.
At any case, yay k-on! Now all we need is for Azusa to show up.

I've been watching Sengoku Basara too. It's okay. NOthing special. Fight scenes are AMAZING though. lol

Does nobody watch Asura Cryin'?

Actually, if you want to try out VNs, Planetarian is really really short, so it's a good intro.
A really good (if much longer) VN is Ever 17.
Both are available with English translations.
Edit:
Simply put, Air was shit. Kanon was good Clannad was goddess tier. Kanon > Clannad imo. (just the animes, never played the games).
And I liked Air

Nope I haven't watched Asura Cryin' yet. Is it good? It's got a 7.14 on anidb.net and I usually don't watch anything lower than an 8. I just tried watching full metal panic and wasn't too impressed with the first episode. Even though it's an 8+! > T_T

FMP is excellent, at least Fumoffu has very few matches in terms of sheer comedy. In terms of the anime...well, it wasn't bad, nor was TSR, but in comparison to the books they fall short. The books have both official and fan translations floating about though, so consider reading that perhaps?
Clannad > Kanon imo, but having 2 seasons with everything packed in helps. Having Key's first glasses character also helps :p
