So my hair is currently Black (like all Asians have), and I've wanted to color it for a while, black hair gets really hot in Australian weather

I was thinking coloring it Jaedong style (I don't know what color it is you call it). Here is an image;

So what I would like to know;

The name of the color
Brands? I don't know.
and other various tips/advice.

looks like "medium golden Brown" this colours are from Garnier.

Btw if you do it the first time don´t do it by yourself. Rather spend the money on a good friseur, he could give you adivice what would fit to your face/person/haircut.
I cut my kids hair once in a while but never would colour their hair :D

Don't go to wal-mart and buy the shitty dyes there or w/e (like garnier). Those are prone to fading and are just pretty low-quality in general.

What I did is go to my hair stylist and I told her what color I was thinking of and she mixed a color for me based on what she thought would be good for what I was aiming, along with other things. It doesn't fade or anything, stays the same color for months, etc.

the problem when going from a dark colour to a lighter one is that if you use one of the cheaper and short term products you're not gonna get the desired effect. So if you do this, it'd directly be for a long while. you better not fuck up.

Actually that's not quite right. To go from black to a lighter color (with the exception of red, which can cover black somewhat) you need to bleach your hair (the process of making your hair blonde), and then color it. If you don't know how to do this, then just go to a hairdresser and show them a photo of the color you want, and they will know how much they need to bleach your hair and shit like that. I'd do it for you if I knew where abouts in Aus you live =p

You say you want lighter hair because you got hot in Australia, but don't lighter haired people just cook in the sun?

You probably should go to a stylist. Not everyone with black hair has the same "blackness". For example I have really dark hair so to get brown highlights I had to have it bleached and covered with an almost blond coloured dye.

i think the color's name is dumb blonde. dye your hair dark blue. without bleaching. the dark blue color only can be seen when under the sun. blue is cool and not many people have it. if you bleach your hair white before dying the blue color will eventually comes off and become green over certain time. so dont bleach your hair when you dye the dark blue. and dont dye it yourselff it will be a mess and unprofesional.
