I assumed you were talking about if Jaedong's ceremony would have been acceptable if it was against Flash. Your question was vague.
To your actual question, why does it matter whether or not Jaedong advanced or not? A revenge game is a revenge game regardless; it would have been worse if Jaedong failed to advance and fail to enact revenge all at once.
