People might find that cruel, I dont know, but our cat has lived for 14 years now, and is really enjoying staying in our house, and it seems it loves us pretty much.

Oh yea I heard this method works very well. But in my case my dogs are in the backyard and well im not back there 24/7 so this solution doesn't help my case much.

Afaik negative feedback only works when they're actually doing it (or when they're just about to, that really fucks em up.. "how did he know?!!")

Basically you have to make the negative stimulus more powerful than the positive stimulus. Put something near the bamboo that would deter him from even being near there. water bottle could work as well. I've been spraying my cat with a water bottle for years now when he tries to get food off the counter. He's mostly just like 'sup bitch.'

It doesnt hurt the cat and it definitelly works. I did it on one of my old cats too. I laso had one where we tried blowing him in the face every time he did something stupid, which eventually also worked. Screaming at a cat will never work though. It will just make it dislike you and become unsocial.
