Well iv been wanting a new monitor now for quite a while, and I finally have some spare cash from xmas.
Iv looked around some and figured out a decent price range that i liked, but when actually seeing whats the better deal for what i'm getting it all just kind of goes over my head :S
Was wondering if you guys could possibly point me in the rite directing or even recommend some good monitors 200$ or less (unless its an insane deal of course). Again since i don't really know much if you need anymore information ill be happy to let you know.

NEC LCD22WV - a friend of mine bought this one recently, says it was the best ~150$ he ever spent on a monitor.

meathook: O_O i would like to know where he got this monitor cause when i went to newegg (place i go online) its 250$ which is a hell of a difference i would say
gm.tOSS: I cant even find that monitor on newegg or tigerdirect (sadly only places i really know that are decent)

Hmm.. that is odd.. In Europe, average retail price for that monitor is around 170-210$. These are prices I just checked.. my friend got his about 2 months ago, I think.
The monitor gm.toss is referring to might only be available in Europe or have a different product name in US. You should try checking the official homepage for more details.

Don't buy cheap Samsung. Those are usually unreliable. An expensive Samsung is OK.

Hrmm I didn't know there was a difference between a cheap samsung and a expensive samsung motbob....
I two samsungs the one in my room is a syncmaster 931BW and I believe the other one in the living room is either a 930bw or 932BW...To lazy to go look..So yea samsung!
Edit: Yea I just looked at it and its a 932BW. The 931BW I think is discontinued but I bought it for like $136(with tax on black friday) out the door and its almost the same specs as the 932BW...Shit It might just be the same specs...I don't know how much the 932BW was b/c we got it as a gift but both of them are 2ms....I like the 931BW better thou b/c its more slimmer. The 932BW is fuckin fat...

The 226BW is not getting produced anymore, and I also only found it on the european pages at Samsung. Sorry, it's really good though.
There was a test of gaming-tft-displays in the c't-magazine once (they got progamers from different genres to test em) - the winner in fps and rts category was the X2200W from BenQ. Now this one is really top notch. Got terrible notes for fifa but I don't think anyone around here cares :D

well...im more or less having a hell of a time trying to find nearly any of the monitors you speak of (maybe newegg sucks idk) maybe someone can tell me what to look for in a monitor and i can do some searching myself?

The first post in my second link above goes into more detail than you could ever want.

Dude dont buy widescreen if you have nvidia, you will have broodwar in widescreen-meshed-out-looking-like-crap-buggihatenvidiaandloveteamliquid.net.
Go buy a good 2 ms 19" monitor or do like me play in your sofa and lcd tv. Works like a charm
|
I bought a 20" wide Samsung for ~190 about 5 months ago... and I can't wait to buy another one.
and definitely buy a widescreen... Aspect Ratio is really easy to fix for SC:BW regardless.
