Is there a reason why the booths are so cold? The players seems to wear multiple layers and quite often, they rub hands early game and blow on them to warm up.

When I play, cold hands affect me greatly so I feel sad for them.

Sometimes you don't get cold because the surroundings are, more possibly nervousness can cause them to get cold?

Or maybe it's cold so they stay alert or something.

I was under the assumption that the booths are really hot? They're always sweating and such =/

Doesn't the brain work most efficiently at something like 17°C?

I always thought it was cold in the booths otherwise they wouldn't look like they are about to go on an antarctic expedition.

Maybe they wear additional layers so their sweaty armpits cannot be seen? Or they need to wear the team jacket due to sponsoring obligations? Or they want to look more intimidating?
I don't believe they require the jackets for warming as it's certainly hot in the playing hall with hundreds of people.

I don't think the booths are necessarily cold - it doesn't make sense that under all that TV lighting and stuff that it would actually be frigid in the booth. Even though they turn the lights down during the games I still doubt it actually gets cold in there.

It's more likely they keep the booths at a fairly normal temperature but the progamers feel that they would perform better if their body temperature was higher, so they wear heavy clothing.

It's not cold in there, they just wanna feel even higher heat as they perform better when it's hotter.

When I play SC while it's cold, I usually sweat on face and on my back, but hands and feet (fucking freezing because my comp is next to a window and cold air collect around my feet; usually I have to sit... um, I don't know the term. It's how Korean people sit on flat ground usually.

Shouldn't the importance of the game be enough to get you to be alert?

I somewhat understand the clothing then - to get warmer (above room temp?) but why warm up your hands? I mean people don't do that unless they are cold.

I heard Tasteless say that it's to keep the circulation going in the hand which in reality is very important. Playing with cold hands is hard.

This has a variety of innuendos that I don't want to point out, though they are probably extremely obvious.

Besides that: I would assume the indoors ones are pretty warm. They have hundreds of people screaming, and rooms with a lot of people in them tend to get pretty hot.

Some are outside though, and they could get cold. I can't think of any recent specific cases though, except maybe for FBH's ceremony where he takes off his shirt and runs outside, etc.

No, I do this if it's to the point where it really affects my game. Also, when I play cs, because my hands shivering means my aim's gone (not that it is great, maybe I'll get some lucky headshots).

I think the gamers are compensating for nerves with extra-warm clothing. When I played a FPS competitively, during intense matches I would always feel nervous and for some reason I think that made my hands feel cold and sluggish. Lately, whenever I play a game competitively I bundle up just to avoid this problem. Maybe SC gamers are the same way.

They are already pretty hot, but more heat = better micro/macro, that's why they try to get as warm as possible."without fucking themselves up"

Ironically the venues can be pretty cold - especially the OGN studios. I've been as bundled up as some of the OGN players in their massive coats at times there during the Winter.

Colors are awesome

Idk, I do that too (the blowing on/rubbing the hands thing) and I am usually plenty warm when I play, so I think it is just a nervousness/comfort thing.

That was in Busan and trust me - even in the evening we were all walking round in t-shirts and shorts. It was more than hot enough for him to go for a swim after dark. Even myself, Peanut and my Korean friend went for a paddle before the finals began because it was so scorching at Kwang Ahn Li beach.

same...

Tasteless has said it's relatively warm in there booths and they also wear there coats and such. Cold hands are much slower then warm ones, and it's more comfortable to play with a high body temp

Playing in bad weather annoys the fuck out of me and throws my game off really badly (regardless of what I'm playing) to the point where I have to take a steaming hot shower and get a hot drink instead of continuing play

remember that story about the practice rooms being super hot in the summer and Draco not allowed to open any windows?

I think it was an interview with JulyZerg around the time when he won his golden mouse he was said he elects to turn down the air conditioner inside the booth because he likes playing in a more intense atmosphere.

Maybe someone can recall reading something like that.

I can't seem to find any logic behind this. Is his room next to the trash-area?

There's not that much heavy thinking involved, staying around 17 degrees is useful for when you're following lectures and such but not at sc, when your hands get cold you can't play for shit and your attention isn't likely to wander off while playing sc because you always feel a certain pressure.

Form a cup with them, blow into that cup, and then rub them together...repeat until warm. The pro's do it because it works.
