comparing it to word? in one note you have notebooks, and inside the notebooks you can have different tabs, and inside each tab are the individual pages you write on and they're arranged automatically into chronological order. it's very, very organized. with word you have to open each individual file : I edit: here's an example from my notebook + Show Spoiler + ![]()

I don't know what you're talking about with the boxes. You can use it straight up with just one "textbox"... but if you need flexibility and want to move shit around, you can click somewhere where there's no text and open a second box. Like for my todo list I have shit scattered around as little "notes to self" so I don't have to scroll down. And yes, the built in organizational tools are fucking awesome...

You waste the one valuable thing which a professor can bring to a class - a unique way of presenting information in a way that can make it easier to understand - and you walk away with something of less value than you already have in a book. You're then forced to go back to the book to try to understand your notes, which is basically the same as starting with the book to begin with, since your notes are just a bad copy of what's in the book. If you pay attention in class, though, you begin to get an idea of what is being taught and you can start to form a framework in your mind with the important core bits. Then you walk away from class with your foot in the proverbial door of knowledge. Going to the textbook now means you have the head start you need to make reading the text a manifestly more manageable experience. Listening in class gives you important tools and perspectives which make your book learning more effective. Perhaps this may not be a universal truth, but I've found it holds in a lot of cases.
