its like a 2 part movie about 2 boys who lived in hiroshima when the bombs went off. Its pretty good if your into that sort of political touchy feely sorta thing.
The manga is the best one I've read! The anime is a bit oldish and its kinda short compared to the manga, but I enjoyed it a lot as well, the story and main characters are so cool, and the story is awesome, specially because it is not aimed for a young audience.
2. Hellsing
If you like watching immortal vampires and humans, this is quite nice. But not nearly as good as Berserk.
seen beserk it was enjoyed. barefoot gen sounds a bit shota lal. not bothered to watch macross coz i had the impression it was oldschool and id already seen more modern versions of it in some form. dont feel inclined to watch it right now but perhaps in the future, ty.

I don't see reason watching anime when the manga is x1000 times better. The anime is in really low quality.

qft best of all time, to bad the new volumes are coming out so slowly
dokuro chan returned for a new series in some form. what is it called, can you link me to it (torrent, alluc/tvlinks etc) i remember watching maybe the 1st 2 episodes ages ago.
question2_
ive been without internet for 4 months. what have i missed?
NOT
batman film disaster movie ROLF..
YES
new anime, new films, new godly music (and old lol), new godly vods (reaver lal) new games..? i downloaded farcry2 to sample it and have no opinion except it has dodgy graphics , but then i think all games have shit graphics
With that long list you have there I'm surprised it wasn't on there. It's really famous, a fantastic anime with a lot of thiking/deep plot stuff involved in it, and fantastic background visuals.
It's also pretty long, so provides a lot of entertainment.

Grave of the fireflies
I dont get why some people recommended berserk and gto when in the op he clearly said not those ;;;
Still being aired, great animation style, plus the story seems rather interesting so far, although i have only watched four episodes.
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni:
If you like horror, mistery and suspense, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS, im not gonna try to explain the show, its too wierd to even try it, but its one of the best anime i have ever seen (although season two kind of sucked in my opinion).
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu:
A cute, fun and at times really surprising anime, it has a lot of comedy, fanservice, scifi, music, action... And just about a little bit of everything. Plus, great animation.

I liked that one too much, I think I've watched it at least 5 times over the last 1.5 years?

i just watched it, such a short anime like 15 episodes?
If you want total mindfuck, Serial Experiments Lain is a terrific show. Dark, confusing, abstract, really good anime. But it's kinda a love it or hate it thing.
If you want something stupid but fun to watch, try Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Anime about big battling robots. What makes it work is that it realizes that the premise is totally stupid, and the whole show is ludicrously over the top (think 300-blood+robots)
If you want Harem, Kanon is your best bet. While a lot of harem sucks hard, Kanon is actually a really really good show. Amazing art.
Edit- Thanks Ecael. WATCH THE 2006 VERSION. There are 2 Kanon's, the 2006 version being twice as long and 10x as good.
Kaiba, but give it at least 2 episodes to get use to the art style. It's really good. It's about this future society where memories can be transfered from body to body, so essentially people can live forever, but only if they're rich enough to buy new bodies.
Midori No Hibi is really good too. This guy wakes up with his right hand as a girl! That's automatically hilarious.
Zombie Loan is also really good...
Ghost Hound... Is really good. I never finished, but it's about these people who have Out of Body Experiences when they dream, and all this junk... I only ever got 7 episodes into it though, cause I was watching it with a friend... And that friend is sort of no more

Umm, other anime's I really liked...

Kanon is no harem though, at that, most eroge/visual novels turn anime just defies your normal shounen harem routines by actually making some pairings plain impossible to follow a true end. However, it is still an excellent anime, if you are going to watch it though, watch the Kyoto Animation version.
At that, just watch everything from KyoAni since they get the best stuff (Key + Suzumiya + FMP? It might as well as be a monopoly if not for Aniplex)
To aru majutsu no Index for this season, for sure, and for retro stuff Banner/Crest of the Stars. Kara no Kyoukai for theatrical hits, Hanbun no Tsuki ga noboro sora for OVA goodness (well, this is more hit and miss, but the books were excellent).

This. Great story and storytelling. Can't wait for season 2!
Edit - OP, do you not want the anime you listed to be mentioned because you've already watched them or because you don't think you'll like them?
To Watch: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (edit: SEASON 2 IS UNCONFIRMED PEOPLE, FFS. Let the God-Haruhi be presented when ready... god damn.) Clannad Clannad After Story Kanon 2006 Kaiba 5 Centimeters per Second Black Lagoon Bible Black (fuck yeah this show's awesome) Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai Nodame Cantabile Nodame Cantabiole ~ Paris Chapter ~ Kurozuka Toradora! (it's okay...)
Ghost Stories was awesome (the dub, anyway
and a spider just crawled around in my room. it's not a daddy longleg, and anything past that roaming in here scares the paper shit outta me

No, it has been confirmed, just that the date is still unknown. The latest rumor seems to all be pointing at 2009 Spring season, but who knows. It would be fabulous if they could manage to get it up for December because of the main story plot. Considering that Kyoto Animation already did bit of a joke on that last year, I wouldn't be too surprised to see if they pull that off. Unfortunately, since as of yet they have never had more than one anime airing a season, far as I know, 2008 looks pretty much impossible.
Also, they have been confirmed to be doing the animation for the 4koma manga for Suzumiya, I have absolutely no idea how they'll pull it off (well, they managed Lucky Star perfectly fine), but that's also something to look forward to. Tsuruya-style martial arts!
On that note though, the goddamn 10th volume of the light novel needs to come out already. An indefinite delay for a whole year and almost a half now ; ;
Rewatching Cowboy Bebop for the umpteenth time. There is no series that can compete with it, hands down the best anime ever made. I find myself moved by some of the most mundane episodes, its one of the few anime that I was in tears by the end. Spike = Best Hero ever, Vicious = Bet Villian ever, Ending of CB = Best ever. Watch it if you havent.
