If your on ladder I can give you some free shit. I don't use it anymore.
|
Uninstall Diablo 2. That's pretty much the only solution I have here, sorry.
|
You should ceremoniously break your CD. Not that that will stop you for long if you know how to get cracked versions of the game but...
You should basically just delete it.

Yup, that's gonna help him quit.
But in all seriousness, if you have some sort of self control, just stop playing for a few weeks and stop thinking about it. Eventually you won't have a longing for it anymore unless you go back to it. An example of this is that a few months ago I stopped going to teamliquid, and eventually I just never checked out proleague games etc. But I started looking back after college applications were done and I was fine.

That was the point. I'm testing his ability to give it up.
Seriously though, there is free shit at stake here.

Man, 2 month of d2 are nothing. Peolple have lost their entire social life on this game!! And now after only 2 month you're aware of the trap under your foot, congratulations!! you're not lost for humanity!! Rejoice, in one or two month you'll be fed up with d2. if not, gamefaqs got a lot of weird build to test in the guides section and some are REALLY fun to play (like the potion finding barb!!!).

luckily thats never happened to me with dII
I get bored of it after 2 months, dont play for 6months to a year and then play again :D

the exact same thing has gone on with me. haha I always come back to StarCraft or a new game

Stop playing or lose your paintbrush!
|
I've been really tempted to reinstall d2, I miss low level dueling with a passion. I just want to make my kicksin again blah
|
Get addicted to WoW instead!
Okay, seriously, eh, I don't really know, I beat my WoW addiction about 6-7 months ago because the griinding just got too boring.
Btw, I agree with most others here, since you're already worried about being addicted after 2 months, you're probably going to be fine. Just try not to play, and DON'T try to make it fun, think of it like the boring tedious grind that it is and you'll get bored sooner or later. Err, what I'm trying to say is: if you keep trying to convince yourself something is boring, not worth it, ect, eventually you'll probably belive it. And then quitting is really easy.
That's pretty much how I stopped playing WoW 7 or so months back, okay, getting addicted to watching starcraft matches helped. But once I decided to not play it was really easy, since by that time I'd already convinced myself that what I was doing was just boring.

I feel with you I got the same problem. Fucking video games... T_T

Yup, that's gonna help him quit.
Actually, it just may. Whenever people "help me out" like that in games, I lose interest and often quit soon after. I hate not doing everything on my own, but maybe that's just me. ^^;

I played WoW a lot before too. I found out SC progaming was much more fun and WoW sucked, one day I just uninstalled it.
|
ill take your free stuff salv, man i miss d2 :D
|
Only two months?
Easy solution is just to post your cdkey so it's constantly in use or banned by someone.
|
Play hc 5 hours every day for three months, die, consider committing suicide, hate the game for the rest of your life (or 1-2 months). Easy as that.
My friends and I used to play this game to a fucking ridiculous extent, some of my friends became complete gods in this game. Eventually we gave it up (some of us picked up sc / a life. Sc is not that time consuming IMO). Nowadays, to kill the urge of starting again, we get together once in a while in LANs and after playing some heavy bw/q2 we start up a D2 hc-crew and play for 10-11 hours straight until we're sick of the game until the next LAN. Works well.
And all of you telling him to just uninstall it and move on... it's impossible. It's like a barrier in your mind. It's like chocking yourself with your hands, your body takes control and stops you.
|
dont you have school'ing?
I wish i have hundred of hours to play. my D2 original CD key is missing, and LoD probably banned. wait wtf. just uninstall it, and delete the iso, etc.
put some firewall and block the D2 bnet port.

Do you think it would be viable with a hand-of-god-adin? I mean, seeing that the ladder runewords are just so good, it MAY just work!! gogogo, get online and we'll get the build going!!
|
d2 really crunches on real life when you wake up the in morning and the first thing you just HAVE to do is start the crazy/fun/cool build you already worked out up to lvl 80~85 and how its going to hell-viable the night before.. i only played single player really tho i traded a bit on diablii.net.. i prob would never have played for as long as i did if it wasn't for atma lol. its hard to really break the habit (as in not just losing interest arbitrarily) cos just everything is so addictive.. level-ups, mat/pat/guarding, mf'ing, you name it. just one good drop could ruin the right (or wrong, if you will ) kind persons life.
sorcs ftw! hehe

hmm i find the best way to focus on studying is to delete the game and unplug your internet.
After it's unplugged, I realize that I have nothing to do so I start studying. + Show Spoiler +unfortunately, my housemates started playing sc so we play on lan now

I felt the same way some time ago, only for me it was about starting D2... :p I just couldn't play it for longer than act 1 nightmare. Seeing the same stuff all over again just with stronger monsters and better drops... omfg. Then I realized that D2 sucks. And 2 friends were crazy about the game, so...

I agree but damn, the loot system is addictive. But i left after my first hc char got pked . I think i should say thank to the retard who killed me. It saved me many hours of mindless spam fest.

just delete your chars or get someone else to do it for you.

Gotta go back to the root causes, man! Actually this is to everyone: Are you always 'addicted' to something? Starcraft? WoW? Crack cocaine? you can be addicted to anything really, it's just a psychological state of mind. I'm an internet/computer/technology addict. It's either a game, watching VODs, wasting time lurking here, or just surfing the net. It's hard to stop, probably need to develop some willpower. Studies have shown that willpower is like a muscle - if you train it, it will get stronger!
