Which are yours?
Personally I like four:
1. Tokyo Love Story (Japanese)
Two love triangles involving 3 girls and 2 guys. Though the premise risks cliche, the acting is really genuine and really approximates just how damn hard it is to find true love as a twentysomething, lonely yuppie in a big city.
2. Winter Sonata (Korean)
I don't think this needs much of an intro on TL.net
3. An Suan-"To Plot Against"(Chinese)
The best Chinese TV series I've ever seen--succeeds with both an excellent story and excellent history lesson (surprisingly unbiased for a mainland piece). It's about espionage in three periods in recent Chinese history (1920's, during the period immediately following the KMT's first White Terror, 1950's, uprooting KMT partisans, and 1960's, breaking the top secret codes used by the U.S. and Japan). Very well thought out psychological thriller, especially the 1920's part. Excellent acting from the male lead, Qian Zhijiang makes James Bond look like a retard asshole and makes other spy thrillers choke like Stork in a final.
4. Tian Long Ba Bu
Best wuxia series I've seen, gripping story, easily keeps the audience suspended in disbelief without jumping the shark (all to easy in a fantasy epic). Almost like a Chinese-style LOTR. Good to watch if you like excitement and seeing raw awesomeness in the form of the Xiang Long Shi Ba Zhang...

o...some good Taiwanese dramas are:
It Started With a Kiss (super popular in 2004)
Devil Beside You (also super popular in 2004)
Smiling Pasta
Corner with Love
Silence (this is actually really slow)
and the best one and most popular (recently) is called Fated to Love You. It had really high ratings (over 10) and the people in it are crazy popular now. The WSJ did an article on it too. Here is a link to watch Fated to Love You with english subtitles: http://boomvid.com/asian/moviec6acdcb0d--Fated-to-Love-You-Chinese-Drama.htm
