so i've been working out for some time now, and only been serious about it for about a year; i took a weight lifting class this semester to keep me motivated. working out by myself isn't good enough because i lose my motivation easily. i find that, after awhile, i get bored and lazy. then i've started to think about supplements like muscle milk and whey and pure creatine, and been shopping around looking for cheap muscle milk and whey online and offline, but don't know where to start. i think cheapvitamins.com has pretty cheap 2.48 pounds of muscle milk for about 19$ + shipping + tax. my friends say costco has cheap whey too. i dont know. anyone know where to get this stuff for cheap?

If you are keeping up with exercise, and hopefully following a reasonable diet, why do you need to get more from your body? Are you planning on doing something strenuous? Going to one up a guy on the football team?

My roommate was all into health food store related items, and sometimes spit the shit out faster than you could accuse him of wasting his money rofl.

Amazon generally has great deals on Whey, but MuscleMilk is NOT the same as a protein drink. I'm not very familiar with Creatine except that it fills your muscles with water and it goes away when you stop.

before you even get into supps, make sure you got your diet and rest in check

ive tried muscle milk and I dont really see the big hype around it...cant go wrong with just pure whey and creatine mono

I order my supps from www.bodybuilding.com ..cheapest prices I could find

go to GNC store and shop around there, personally i buy the huge jugs of 100% whey for about 30 dollars a pop.

i recommend staying away from creatine, i've seen too many horror stories of guys who took it, and ended up getting bigger -yes- but not cut: bigger as in rounder.

my understanding of creatine is that it stimulates muscle growth as you will recover from a hard work out faster and muscle cells will retain more water = get bigger

just get the whey protein shakes
the rest dont help much.. as long as ur diet gets u all ur vitamins, ur body should be working efficiently

but choose properly,
take into account scoop sizes vs. protein per scoop
isolate vs concentrate
whey vs egg vs soy vs milk etc.
(stick to whey if ur not sure about the rest, soy if u wanna take it before u sleep)
theyre good because they absorb fast in ur system, good for pre and post workouts

but u still need a proper diet with all ur proteins

just go to ur local nutrition food store, hell u can try wal-mart ive seen protein shakes there

I had never heard of muscle milk but it seems interesting. Can someone who has used it share the experience? I might give it a try in the future.
I use diet + program and for supplements whey protein, creatine mono, glutamine + animal pak and I am pretty happy with the results. I also get the stuff from bodybuilding.com which is a very nice site overall.

My advise would be work on your motivation because without it you won't do anything even with all the supplements. If you've been working out for more than one year...i mean if you are serious you you'll see results in 3, 4 months after that you will want to keep going.

another thing u should note,
u dont need all these crazy supplements

half the bodybuilding magazines and such are scams, you'll even see in their meal plans they have anywhere from 4-6 scoops of protein per day, and usually a $30 protein can wont have more than 30 scoops.

dont overdo the supplements, eat lots of milk, eggs, meat, tuna, bread, u know all that good stuff

Whoa... no. Creatine is part of the phosphocreatine (or creatine phosphate) energy system of the body. When it absorbs into muscles since it's an ion, water also comes in through osmosis which is the initial weight gain. Basically, what it does is allow quick refueling of ATP during a workout so you can possibly put out another rep or two. This allows more stress on the muscles to give better strength improvements (and mass if you eat enough.

-------------------------------------

Make sure your workout, DIET and sleep are optimal.

Diet = tons of fruits (specially berries), veggies, eggs, meat, fish, nuts. Eat BIG if you wanna gain weight; eat moderate if you want to maintain & slightly caloric deficit if you want to lose weight.

Lift heavy. Whether you want to get "cut" or gain mass this is the way you do it. Stimulates mass increase and increased hormonal response (GH, test, etc.) helps to burn off fat. Add in a circuit/HIIT/tabata/metabolic conditioning session here or there if you so desire.

If you still need supplements, go for fish oil and protein powder (whey works). Creatine works for some people and for others it doesn't; I personally don't use it. Everything else if you have extra loads of cash then go for it otherwise I wouldn't touch anything else.

They call it like a "dietary supplement" or something like that. It's just another source of calories/protein/vitamins except they use real shit in it so it tastes better than any whey drink and also has fat.
