-Elitism. As much as I like the great threads about life in general on TL.net, I try to stay away from a lot of the SC threads because sometimes you just encounter such elitism that it actually gets me, the most mellow person ever, annoyed.
-Self-pity. The thing that cracks me up at StarCraft sites is the overwhelming group of people who talk about how "girls only go for assholes." If you really think that's true, become an asshole and see if that works for you. And I would know, I was in the same boat for most of high school. I was always the "let's just be friends" and it was easy to fall back on "girls never go for nice guys." If you don't like something in your life, change it! It isn't hard.
-I don't know how to classify this one. Basically I joined a fraternity this past year (freshman year) of college. When I see old friends from high school that are my age, they sort of understand what that means. I have learned not to tell girls who just graduated from high school about the fraternity because literally everyone who has never been to college has a negative notion that they just love to hold onto. I would say "people who don't know what they're talking about" but that just sounds elitist.
-When people judge something they aren't familiar with. Like fraternities. Or people playing StarCraft. Or when someone sees the fact that I own the book "how to win friends and influence people" they assume I need to figure out how to "be cool." It's a great book that is great to read every once in a while to refresh your memory on the person you want to be.
-When people get their pants in a knot about something that doesn't matter. For example - unless it's in a tournament/league with a prize, who cares if someone hacked in SC? Yeah, it'd be nice if they stopped but really, what does it matter?
-When people insist on telling "religious" or "faithful" people that they're wrong/prosecuting religious people. Yes, I know that sometimes it can be annoying when people try to force their beliefs on you. But when you tell a religious person that they're wrong, you're doing the exact same thing. You think you're doing them a favor and enlightening them to your truth, and they think the exact same thing. Think of it as a gift - they have found something they really enjoy and want to share it with you. It's like finding a great restaurant and telling people about it. Keep their intentions in mind before judging their actions.
-People of authority calling you "sir" when they don't mean it. If a security guard is going to yell at me to leave, why is he calling me "sir"? But it isn't as bad as...
-People of authority insisting on receiving respect while giving none. My writing teacher this past year flipped out on me a few times while citing the passage from our university code that says "all persons shall be treated with respect." You'd think she would notice the irony.
-Hearing about gas prices. Yes, gas is suddenly expensive here in the states. Sure, I can understand talking about it when it's relevant (truck drivers) but apparently nothing is happening anywhere in the world so all our news can talk about is how high the price of gas is.
-When people take themselves too seriously. Really, me typing "bl nf bg" before a game does NOT make me "bad manner." It just means I like to fuck with you. Since I recently started playing a bit of SC again and I know I'll be quitting again in a couple weeks, I've taken a new love to fucking with people.
-The fact that I can't gain weight easily. Until this summer, I hadn't gained weight in four years. I had been a lanky 6'1" 130 lbs white guy. Now I actually work at it and I've gained about 10 lbs. Still skinny, but it's getting better.
-When people are confused about the idea of "equal". There are two kinds of feminists. Those who advocate equality and practice it, and those who advocate equality and practice superiority. Calling men chauvinist pigs doesn't make you better, you're just trying to make them worse.
-My slice in golf. Damn, that game would be so much easier if I could hit it straight. I'm working on it.

Sure I'm taking responsibility for my actions. When I say that people take themselves too seriously, I'm not absolving myself of the fact that I'm going against the "common etiquette" of a video game. I don't really get how we've built up all this etiquette that we're required to say all these random things before/after a game. I just don't understand why someone would get worked up about me poking fun at our "community etiquette." To each his own. This doesn't have anything to do with me taking responsibility for anything.
And, for the record, I'd like to clarify that it's completely my fault that I'm an ass. (Or I could blame the girls in high school choosing the "assholes" over me, but that wouldn't be taking responsibility for my actions  haha)
