I decided to take up a tv show and someone recommended me weeds. I liked mary louise parker in angels in america. But after binging the first season, finishing up just now, I've decided to stop watching the show. The entire glamour of weeds seems to lie within a pimping out of mary louise parker, who is absolutely adorable. They make her character vulnerable. She gets dominated by men, she has serious ethical flaws, she's always overwhelmed by her surroundings which bring tragic consequences. I feel as though there's a mild sadomasochistic appeal to her character. Every episode thus far has basically been she gets into deep shit, she fucks some dude, she (sometimes) cries, but there's hope in the end. Nancy, her character, doesn't really develop, she just gets into deeper shit as the season goes on. It's all really addicting because mary louise parker is so hot and she makes Nancy so likeable, but besides that I feel like I'm watching a really complicated porno. She just gets exploited too much. Does anyone have any other recommendations for a good tv show?

I like weeds, but I don't really know why. Most of the characters on the show are brutally unlikeable. Nancy is a total stupid bitch. Like what the fuck, you stupid ass idiot. Your a terrible mom and a horribly weak person. It just gets worse and worse and she gets deeper and deeper into shit, it's up to season 4 now. It's still an enjoyable show with some good laughs and a storyline I want to see.

Prison Break is another show I completly follow. I loved the first season and I'm just hanging in through. People say it wnet downhill but whatever, I'm already immersed in it so gonna watch it to the end.

The Office. It's funny. I'd recommend it. It's pretty uniqure and pretty much anyone who's worked before can relate to it. Steve Carrell acts like himself in it (and everything else for that matter).

The Sopranos - Needs no introduction. It's pretty good and made me want to watch the whole thing. It's long as well so if you get hooked you'll have a nice long ride to go through.

South Park - Been following my whole life pretty much. It rules.

That 70's Show - I like it a lot. Even if it seems like a 6-10pm filler show, it's not and it rules.

I don't remember how many seasons there are, but I watched the entire show as of like 4 months ago, so not the newest season, and it was pretty good, but I did have some of the same problems you had.

As for other shows, I haven't watched either of them, but I have never heard anybody complain about lost or heros, so those should both be safe bets if you haven't seen them. I know they are 'mainstream' or whatever it is you kids complain about these days, but if everybody likes them, there is probably a reason. (Don't take offense to that statement, just protecting myself from the inevitable flames I will receive for recommending watching something that isn't "A Clockwork Orange"

That was a pretty entertaining description of Weeds, I liked it.

Anyways the show that I'm really liking right now is "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with Larry David, one of the creators of Seinfeld. I think it's absolutely hilarious.

I liked the first few episodes with like, the video flashbacks, the soda pop dropping, cancer, they were good literary devices and the endings sometime felt cathartic. but then as it went along the plot just became more ridiculous and felt like everything happened just for kicks, like lost or something, no actual significance whatsoever. I'm back to watch the worst, most narcissistic comedy ever, 30 rock, because i like tina fey.

I never watched Weeds regularly, but I'll leave it on if I see it. It's a good show, me thinks.

Entourage comes back on in Sept. on HBO. That's a really awesome series. Ari Gold is such a hilarious character.

I enjoy the show here and there, but the protagonist.. I just don't sympathize with her situations. The plots and dialogues are also obnoxious sometimes. Overall it's a good show, though.

i've started watching that HBO show Oz again, highly recommend.

Sopranos, of course if you haven't already seen that. just about any HBO show is good.

Nancy grows more and more apathetic and numb, but you're right it's not a very deep show. I still think it's entertaining, and she is so smoking hot.

I just finished watching all of the US version.

Do you guys recommend the UK version? I've never seen it.
