So I graduate high school in a week, summer is coming around the corner, and I am starting to worry about that little thing called "Money" again.

I told my mom since I'm technically an adult now, I should stop being a child and leaching money off her, so I'm definitely going to try to make some money so that I can start paying off loans for college and pay for gas and miscellanious expenses.

I used to work at a Dry Cleaners but the environment there was very stressful. The manager always was yelling at me, the customers were never satisfied with their clothes (even though I wasn't the one cleaning them) and I got bitched at, and I was stressing out about work every day.

I want to try to avoid a high stress/low pay job like that if possible, so I am going to try to look for a different route. I want a job where the quality of my work is directly related to how much I earn. I was thinking about doing a few things actually
1) Learn to be a beastly poker player like Rekrul/BigBalls/Elky/etc.
2) Sell a bunch of random shit on eBay.
3) Take online surveys that pay money.

I'm sure there are clever people who found a way to make money well. Please share your wisdom.

kthx

Yeah, working at a sports club is actually pretty decent, or so I hear. You might get some perks, such as free use of certain utilities, as well. x3 Good luck~!

And nu, don't rob a bank.

Yeah. It's probably extremely difficult to get a summer sports club job this close to summer, but any gym will do really.

One of my friends caddies at the local golf course and makes around $80 for a single course. Most of the times he doesn't do anything at all as the golfers want to carry their own stuff.

This probably isn't up your alley, but if you don't find what you're looking for and you aren't too lazy working at FedEx or UPS is pretty sweet. I haven't worked there because I actually have another job this summer but I know a few friends who are workaholics who work the night shift and because of that they get paid extra and work a few less hours and all they do is stock shit and lift boxes.

I really don't recommend you doing this one, contrary to popular belief not everyone wins at poker, finally tried after being curious for so long put up $50 up front lasted about a week with that, put $150 more in and was doing good with that was up$100. Long story short it went down hill ended up loosing $300, but stopped after that LOL. And if you really need money I suggest you don't risk shit like that. I only did it because I had some extra spending money I didn't know what to do with.

But craigslist has some cool summer jobs if you don't want to work at a fast food place or a big franchise. They pay pretty good, and you can probably work in the field you're studying right now, just don't tell them it's only a summer job or try to avoid that, because most of them might not higher you for 3 months.

uhm... that doesn't make sense. online poker webpages don't take a rake, so wouldn't it be more true that it's just a zero sum game, and about 50% of poker players make money and 50% of poker players lose money?

that is, unless you have 9 out of 10 players losing 10 dollars, and 1 out of 10 winning 90 dollars. still, it's a zero sum game online. give credit where it's due.

food, seed, drugs or cpu chips (spread ur investment out) and forget about them for 30 years & u will retire rich

A guy I intern with suggests being a waiter/busboy over the summer. You'll start with most likely an 8$/hour salary, and have to do a shit load of work, but within two weeks or so you'll get put on waiter status. If you pick the right restaurant, the people you serve will give you huge tips. Apparently, the guy's wife worked at a hyatt buffet or something like that and made 800$ in a 5 hour span from tips alone.

that's just what i've heard. Tutoring also seems to pay a lot of money, a professional tutor is $125 an hour, and it is in really high demand in the upper class areas. I personally charge 25-35$/ hour as a student and have several kids in different times.

no... say you have 9 players at a table, 9 people lose varying amounts of money and one person wins, not necessarily giving any of it back. how is this a zero sum game?

depending on what college you're going to attend, your SAT scores, high school gpa, and rigor of courses, a lot of families with kids in high school might want you to tutor their kids. you can get paid around $20/hr easily.
