Yes, another homework thread.
So I need to write a short story for my english class and it's due tomorrow. I'm usually quite good with these things but being limited to using "Finding Summer" as the title kind of makes it harder for my creativity to do it's thing.
So I turn to TL...
I need suggestions for an interesting storyline ; preferably something in the suspense/mystery genre or something with a good twist.
Keep in mind that the title has to be "Finding Summer"
Thanks in advance

You can make it seem like somebody is trying to decide what to do with themselves during summer break, trying to determine if it IS summer (similarly to a groundhog lol), you could make it a trick and Summer is someone's name, some combination of those, etc...

Thomas's young sister Summer goes missing one cold march afternoon. Thomas and his best friend Burt go on an adventure to find her in an underground tunnel that has something to do with Conan O'Brian. In the end they find out that Thomas's sister is actually just a figment of his imagination and he turns into a huge monstrous chimera.

If you're looking for suspence/mystery then yeah go with the whole "Summer is the name of a person that the main character is looking for" route. However after reading the title I imagined like some fantasy steam-punk land controlled by a fascist government that had overthrown the peaceful monarchy or democracy of the country that had existed 20 years prior.
and the whole story revolves around a band of ragtag adventurers on a quest to find an island that holds the key to restoring peace to the world once more, like an army of undead, or a magical sword...or dragons. Something like that, and the land is called Summer because you can only enter the island during the summer, if you try to step on the island during the winter...it blows up...or an army of undead will emerge to kill you.
So not only are they trying to find the land, but they have to find it by the end of summer because if not then they'll have to wait until next year...but they can't because like...the government's begun some sort of ethnic cleansing and the families of the ragtag adventurers are in danger if they can't save them fast enough.
ok...that's probably way too complicated to write by tomorrow...so just go with the whole "Summer is the name of a person that the main character is looking for" idea.

We saw the abyss, and we shuddered. Our rope was badly torn and we were barely hanging on. Hellish cries came from above. A flash of lightning hit the top of the rope, ripping it and sending us plummeting into oblivion. I cannot explain the strength within me as I grabbed onto a ledge about 300 meters lower, grabbing one of my companions' hand. I pulled him up, and tried to refrain from crying after hearing the awful cracking of bones as my other three companions fell to their doom. I asked my companion whether he was fine, and got an affirmative response. Upon inquiring his name, I got a much more cryptic answer: "Finding. Finding Summer." It was either a very weird name, like the kind they use in the north, or a pseudonym, given to protect his identity from any kind of imperial spies. I admired his tenacity, we were miles away from civilization and I had just saved his life, but the possibility of myself being an imperial spy never left his mind.

I don't know why I am lending my genius (j/k) to you here but...
For a short story you can do a little plot twist by playing on the word "summer" with the ancient civilization Sumer.... As in, someone is trying to find Sumer for project or w/e but misspells it as summer, and in the end the person finds out that he's been spelling it wrong all the time and feels like a dumbass.
