So I was driving home from class when on the radio the DJ was recapping the news on the effort to ban toy guns. My god. Has humanity become so sue happy/delicate that we sue, blame, or even suspect anything that can be remotely harmful to our kids to be banned, the maker sued or worse sent to jail?

When I was about 10-11 years old I use to have dirt clod wars with the other kids all the damn time, we used trash can lids as shields and occasionally we got hit. Simple trip to the doctor to get some silk or a shot and two hours later we were slightly drugged up and ready for another battle on the construction site. Nowadays if a kid was hit even by a dodge ball the parents would probably sue the other kids family, the school, the company that made the ball, and probably the city for allowing such dangers on the playground in the first place. Has humanity become so lawyered up?

If true I hope an asteroid wipes us out and maybe Earth can hope for a better species in the second round.

Well not the entire humanity as a whole, its primarily the suburban xenophobic ignorant idiotic-fearful population of middle-upper middle class America that your referring to mostly. They're children are also the same children that will get plague and rot our great instituations and have the same degree of xenophobia and class arrogance inhaviting and achieving great academic prowess in an artifical school system. Unfortunately they have a grasp on the world, and they make American society more horrible and montrous, like the hell philosophers of past imagined to be every single day. Just to think this is the 21st century America.

Hahaha, I wouldn't go as far as a hoping an asteroid hits us. But yeah I'm like you I remember playing dodgeball and beating the shit out of each other for fun. Royal rumble was soo much fun, basically we had a football and ran around until you got tackled and the ball got loose their was no scores or anything that was fun for us.

The main reason people sue everyone is it's a very quick get rich scheme. Lawyers, not all, but a large majority abuse the court system and get through little cracks in things. Person whose suing gets payed well, lawyers whose on the case gets paid well also, so it's a win win for both parties. Really sucks for schools when they get sued thou, probably end up loosing a lot of money on the stupid case, and then people complain about the school budget and why taxes are so high... actually fuck it... paint a big "X" in red and hope the asteroid doesn't miss.

I wonder if this is only in the US or if other countries are similar?

Nah its mostly the U.S. High school kids in this age, in the U.S, are the most arrogant douchebags in the entire fucking universe. I doubt other countries are as big of a hell-hole as America is right now.

I'm pretty sure tag was banned as well in the US elementary schools, due to unwanted physical contact or some bs.

Tag is actually an incredibly cruel game. There's always one kid who's slower than anyone else (usually he's fat so he already has low self esteem), who gets tagged. Then that kid will stay "it" forever, because whoever is "it" is doing the most running, so he just gets more and more tired, and usually angry with all the other kids making fun of him.
Can't believe I'm still here playing this same game

Then he gets exercise; all that running will be good for him.

Actually, I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic or not (you do have a point though [one that i disagree with]).

I'd always play tag in elementary school. But the damn yard duties always tells us we can't play tag. That's so stupid, it's not like football where you have to tackle other people (or manage to hit someone by running too fast, seriously that was one reason.) In the end, we just made up variations of tag and called it different stuff.

Yeah, life was a lot more rugged when I was a kid. I really miss those dirt fights. You'd have to steal some poor bastards garbage can lids. Then you'd use them as shields. I personally liked plastic ones the most, they were usually bigger. Sure we'd get hit, I remember taking a few to the head. You'd fall down, and cry or be hurt for a little bit, then you were back up and at it.

I used to play hockey on ice all the damn time when I was kid too, we didn't even use any padding at all. Nothing like taking a puck to the shin haha. Oh I miss those days. Parents wouldn't dream of doing that anymore.

Kids today are so sheltered now...

I for one hope that the sience guys finally turn on this Large Hadron Collider and the entire planet gets sucked into the black hole it creates.

It'll be worth it just for the laughts more advanced species can have over our demise. And it must look interestingly for the guys on the ISS.

Also, banning toy guns is retarded. Too bad over here most are already banned :-(

Just wait for it, wait for it...

HALT!
Hammerzeit.

Why toy guns, I reckon everyone is traumatised by video games, to much violence, makes people violent and everyone else paranoid and shitting themselves.

We called it kill the carrier. It was like 5 years ago when we used to play that, and the yard duty people would get really angry at us and we got in a lot of trouble a few times :\.

Some of these people compared to you older folks have no fun, yet they come into the world with high egos and self-esteems, arrogance gentlemen is a blight on society and this is what is causing it.

So I implore you, punch every arrogant son of a bitch in the face, spit on them and say your an ugly fuck go kill yourself, one way to contain this epidemic.

hell, i'm only 18 and we had so much more physical contact sports in elementary. Hell, we would play football, soccer, and pretty much do it just to tackle someone, we would play dodgeball, wallball (take a ball, usually a lacross ball and throw it at the wall, and if it touches the ground when you catch it or not, you have to touch the wall before someone throws the ball at you)

now they can't even play tag? I would come home from school with new bruises all the time, but the next day i would be excited to go at it again.

I remember playing GOD with a Hackysack. 2 different people would kick it 3 times, catch it, then nail somebody. Stuff like tag and dodgeball made school fun.

Actually you just gotta set the right rules.

I played this with a group of friends from probably year 9 through to year 11 mainly 9 and 10 though. Anyway, the rules were basically "21 is in" for who starts off as 'in/it' and then everyone gets 2 mins to bail to various places in the school. When someone got tipped, they *joined* the person who was in (buildups). The slow kids got to have fun cos they'd catch the other slow kids, and once you get 2-3 people doesn't matter how fast you are you can be trapped, and the fast kids would get to have the fun of being 2-3 people not in with 10+ in.

I don't really remember anyone complaining about those rules.
Their are four errors in this sentance.

I have to slightly protest against this even though it is true

in my very upper middle class town, we may not play tag, but we do drag race ^_^ also ghost riding

i guess its cuz we're one of the power centers so nobody gives a shit

I remember playing tag from grade 1 to grade 5, I was so fucking skinny/athletic by grade 5 it was crazy. All of a sudden, grade 6, new school, no tag allowed.

I got fat ._.

9th grade, marching band!
4 years later, senior, I'm fucking skinny again!
