Being the teenager under a helicopter parent household, the incentives for me to drink look something like this.
In favor of drinking:
Peer Pressure (which in my school is not very high)
Makes me look cool (but that's a dumb excuse because I could always do the reverse reasoning, i.e. i'm so cool i don't need to drink)
Possibly get chicks (although I could probably do that anyways if I got off my lazy ass)
Against drinking:
Parents will kill me
Alcohol will kill me
Alcohol will almost kill me, then parents will kill me
Don't want to sleep with at least 1 in 4 girls in my school due to various diseases, i.e. mono/herpes/it's just disgusting
As one can clearly see, the incentives for me to drink are pretty negative.
However, for a more normal teenager, this is what it looks like:

Negatives:
...?
Now, I really would like to know what motivates people to binge drink. Because I do not do it myself, and the only reason I go to drinking parties is to laugh at just how retarded people get/to call 911 to help people/to call 911 because I'm a dick, I have been (un)fortunately unacquainted with C2H5OH.
Tell me, what motivates you and/or your friends to binge drink? Replies from people above the drinking age are okay too, but I would like to have mostly an underage perspective.

For them to get "smashed" and look mature and cool. Just for the heck of it.

Here's what it it's like for me (although I'm 21 now, but it's always been like this)
Positives:
It's usually fun.
Negatives:
It's occasionally not fun.
Since you sound like you've never tried it, you probably wouldn't know why it's fun.

Looks like youre drinking for all the wrong reasons, you rebel you. I know a few who binge drink, but they do it because it makes parties and things more fun. More uninhibition = more relaxing good time.

I have no problem with drinking at parties.
I do have a problem with people binge drinking and throwing up everywhere.
One of my friends had to spend 2 hours cleaning up his friend in the bathroom because the room was literally covered in vomit. This was at a concert about 4 hours from his house.

Well it depends on the interpretation of binge drinking. Some equate binge drinking to drinking until you throw up. Others just equate it to drinking heavily.
As far as the throwing up, yeah its stupid.
As far as just drinking a lot, Its fun. Everyone is more friendly and uninhibited and you do stupid but fun things.

I could understand how drinking makes things alot more fun due to the lower inhibitions and whatnot, but I'll never understand all the people who drink so much they blackout and don't remember anything...and then brag about how they blacked out to all their friends. Then again that's probably just a teenager thing.

Agreed. Throwing up is stupid and a waste of alcohol;)
But getting drunk is fun, you just have to know your limit and be smart enough to maintain it even when intoxicated.

I don't know what you mean by binge drink. I drink to get drunk. I get drunk because it's relaxing, and for about 4 hours all my anxiety floats away (which is nice when you have a lot of things to worry about). I never vomit from drinking, and I don't have hangovers. I don't drink to impress anyone, or to get chicks (first of all, the girl has to drink, second, you're a scumbag if you take advantage of a drunk girl).
I doubt my parents care, alcohol will not kill me unless I want it to (honestly, I know exactly how much to drink, and even if I over-drank, the chances of not having anyone willing to call an ambulance and pump my stomach is low unless I purposely isolate myself from society). I'm not going to catch a disease from a girl because that's not the type of girl I'm interested in, even when drunk 
There's only one thing to be scared about with alcohol: If you think you're the type of person who will abuse it. Alcohol is recreation, and should never come before anything you have to do in real life. Alcohol shouldn't be used to run away from problems indefinitely. I think a couple hours away from your worries is okay, but after that you just have to deal with them. Of course if you have a weak liver, you shouldn't drink either, but you'd know that just from doctor's orders.
Anyway, I hope that educates you a little Maybe there are 14 year olds who drink to look cool, but the rest of the world knows everyone drinks (ie there's nothing impressive about it), so clearly they're doing it for the feeling it gives them. So go ahead and be straight edge if you want, but don't look down on people who aren't.

There are 22 year olds who drink to look cool. I take it you've never actually seen a room chant chug while someone takes hits from a beer bong. And using "they're doing it for the feeling it gives them" is absolutely moronic justification. If you don't see why, then you're a moron, and I don't mind looking down on you.

It's fun to drink. It's fun to get hammered. If you think drinking makes you cool though or you drink to escape anxiety and social disorders than drinking probably isn't for you. Pretty much everyone drinks so it doesn't make you special in anyway. Do it because you want to. Don't do it if it's not your thing. Try it if your unsure, nothing bad will happen.

I only drink to get buzzed. It helps me relax and I get more talkative and stuff. I'm against getting completely smashed because you hardly remember anything and that's no fun. But if you get nicely buzzed, it's pretty sweet. Like hell, I'm buzzed now lol. Me and my floormate just finished watching two seasons of Dexter... friggin' awesome TV series.
Don't drink to get chicks.. picking up smashed chicks is no fun. But alcohol's not gonna kill you either if you take it easy. Don't be a retard and drink a shitload if you haven't drank before.
I'm underage but I'm in university so there's nothing holding me back (except for my don, I guess). Anyways, you should try drinking some. You're gonna do it eventually. As long as you're not an idiot about it, it shouldn't be a problem.
