This past week I bought some stuff for my girlfriend and I found out that since I spent over $50 I get a $25 store credit. I just need to bring in the receipt which says so. Decided to go looking for said receipt for safe keeping and I just had the realization that I'm fairly certain I through it out in the past week. Had a ton of receipts in my pocket from various other purchases and was throwing them out throughout the week and apparently forgot to keep that one.
May not seem like a lot to most of you, but I feel like I just took a $25 bill and threw it into the trash and just feel awful. Not sure why my brain won't let me be like "It's just $25, get over it" but it's really bothering me and I've been kicking myself all night over it.
I hate regret, so much.

i know what yu mean :3
but what's gone is gone sooo don't let it linger !!

Later you will regret having spent time regretting it.
I usually just adopt an "easy come, easy go" mindset to these types of things. You never even had it to lose.... so whatever.. right?

I'd be pissed if I threw away a $25.00 bill as well.
But $25.00, simple lesson learned and wouldn't bother me.

what's a $25 bill look like

I had the opportunity to earn $100 bucks once, but I had to do something... I don't regret it because what they told me to do was to outrageous.

shit happens, theres nothing u can do..

It sucks but it's better than actually throwing out 25 of your own dollars.

25$ isn't worth loosing sleep over. Think about that the next time.

When I was like 5 years old, on Chinese New Year, I got like 20 bucks...... Threw it down the toilet D:... However I don't think of it as me throwing away 20 bucks but as my parents being stupid enough to give a 5 year old 20 bucks :/

Well, what store did you get the store credit from? I work at a family owned retail hair shop, so I know a little about how store credit works, although I can't guarentee that the store you got credit from would work the same way.
Anyway, you got that credit within the past week, so that's good. If it was an exact figure of $25 (it's ok if it's not, though), the person who took care of you should remember you. Just ask for the salesperson that helped you, and explain what happened to him/her. Explain it in a professional and polite manner, closing it with "is there any way I can redeem that store credit?" They should understand your situation if you're a good customer.

Hold on, just read something. Is this store credit like a bonus? I was under the assumption that it was store credit for something you had to return.

Maybe it was a test. After that they erased the word "banker" on their little "future for our kid" list.

Just so you don't feel too bad, a friend did something far worse a few years back. He was on a ship emptying his pockets of receipts and rubbish into a bin and later realised he threw out £160 along with it. Not sure how much that would have been in dollars at that particular time but still makes yours look less stupid :D. Although he was on a very good wage in the navy with little expenses he was still kicking himself about it.

It was a bonus of sorts, but it acts just like store credit in the sense that if I bought something for $25 or less and used the credit that item would be free. By store credit I mean it was essentially like a gift card in use.
Thanks for commiserating with me guys.

Try anyway. $25 is worth it, right? Go down to the store as soon as possible and try to redeem that credit. At least that's what I would do, since money is money.
