Honestly, the most I would be able to seriously consider offering, for any account, at the moment is like $100. And you could probably sell your account for more than that, even to IGE, or something. :p

If you think about it, you're paying for a copy of world of warcraft and the burning crusade, you're also paying for all the gold he has, and for his time.

I just checked IGE for his faction and server.

2,500.00 gold sells for about $175.00 (192 AUD) Not to mention how much gold he has spent on his talents and mounts. Lets just say $300 (AUD) worth, just as a start
Just checked EBGames, to buy wow and tbc would cost $70.00 (AUD)
$15 for first months subscription.

You're looking at $277.00 (Aud) just to get started, and then it takes anywhere between 190 to 300 hours to level that thing to 70 depending on the class/server/faction.

Even if you were getting paid $1/hour to level, it still makes it very expensive.

I'm against buying toons if you play wow, half the fun of the game is leveling, but I'm just saying, if you are thinking of buying, its crazy and I'd never do it, but the price is justified.

I know, and if I had the money, I'd pay for it. But I don't. Thus, $100 is the most I'd be able to offer at this point.

there is no legal way to trade a WoW account..

You have to give over complete owner ship. In reality you are selling the CD/Booklet and CDkey that the account is on, not the account itself. The transfer of ownership is legal. Selling a random item/gold or character is illegal.

Just thought I'd point out that it is infact illegal under the EULA.

Sorry, but there's no way a 3/3 Spellfire and 2/2 Spellstrike was the best PvE gear on Tich last July. I played on Hyjal, which was also a day 1 server, and one with crap progression for a day 1 PvE server at that, and I could probably name a dozen Mage friends who had better gear than that in July. I'm assuming you probably just didn't ever raid past Magtheridon (I see you have his wand). Until about there the crafted stuff is ok, but as you get into SSC/TK you'd realize the lack of stamina causes it to massively blow. :p T4 is easily better in most if not all slots. As a Mage crafted gear will get you killed horribly on Hydross or Tidewalker, and is extremely risky on Leotheras and Karathress.

Sorry but you fail at trying to discredit. Check Blood Legion, you'll see me standing over Vashj's corpse before the first tich guilds even got to passed Tidewalker. I take it you've never played a mage to begin with. Nor raided top end until months after the first clears and the strats are posted on every website. You're bashing off of seeing one set of gear that is based for damage, and at the time(before all ssc/tk and above items were buffed to all hell) was considered insanely overpowered and had the whole forums crying for tailoring nerfs. Comparing how things are today as to how they were over 6months ago doesn't work.

Notice there the talked about is "virtual items" never once says anything about game transfer. Keep reading the EULA. It's true selling items/accounts is not allowed. However there is absolutely nothing wrong with selling my copy of the game with the cdkey attached to it, which happens to have said accounts on it. It's the same way people have gotten passed Ebay for so many years.

Not to derail the thread further, but not really. Our mages only started replacing the tailored stuff when we were getting t6, and then t5 to fill in the gaps when they broke the sets. But yeah, that stuff definitely wasn't the best in July, since everyone was in BT/Hyjal then.

And selling/trading account ownership is totally against the EULA. Doesn't matter if the game is included or no.

Selling an account is illegal, it does not matter if you're including the cd-key. And "people have gotten passed Ebay for so many years" was because Blizzard didn't take action, it was illegal. Try listing that at eBay, it will get taken down because it's against Blizzard's EULA. They also filed a lawsuit against some chinese gold spammers, although it's illegal to sell gold, it was only after the lawsuit when it was prohibited. My friends sell accounts all the time, nothing wrong with it. But there's no reason to feign ignorance.

So Jonhan are you saying once you buy your copy of WoW you're stuck with it for life. You cannot sell your game to anyone? Ever?

That's pretty messed up, Blizzard better have a pretty big and solid legal team if they want to sue some one for selling there copy of WoW to another person...

You see that's the loop hole. He's not actually selling the character... even though he clearly "is". Hes just selling the copy of the game/key that the character is on.

There's nothing in the eula that states you cannot sell the copy of the cd or the activation key. What it says is you cannot sell the account (information pertaining to the login of said account).

Selling cd/activation key = not selling account. Check
Selling cd/activation key+account information = selling account. No check
Selling account information = selling account. No check.

Hope that helps.

No, no. Unlike say Warcraft 3, and Starcraft. Accounts are tied with the CD-Key being used.

So unless in the EULA it says "In order to sell or trade your CD-Key, you must deleted all information tied to the CD-Key being traded or sold first." (Or something along those rough lines.)

So do you even get what I'm saying?

As for "making money" selling WoW characters, you might have only paid $300-400 in subscription fees, but when you check your /played, you'll find you're making like 50 cents per hour. Selling accounts is like a tax refund check, after you've wasted way too much time/effort playing the awful game.

the thing is thats teh same bullshit thoery of "if you saved all your money you would be super rich". No shit, but getting a few hundred dollars for something that was entertainment for a long time is worth it right?

They do say you can transfer physical ownership of the game, and all the contents with it, if you fully remove it from your computer. However, it's worthless, as Blizzard maintains ownership of the account (they're just leasing accounts, or something), and you can't create a new account with a CD code that has already been used. It's pretty sucky. Pretty much, it's a risk buying this, if they find out that the people playing the account have changed, they will ban the user, with very few exceptions.

No. The people that have accounts that sell for $1k+ are sacrificing a huge part of their personal life to get those accounts, and probably hurting their job status as well. It's not like you're playing 2 hours a day for recreation and in the end you get to benefit from your enjoyment. You're playing 8+ hours a day and throwing your life away to get t6 before everyone else.

The even sadder part is that so many people still play those types of hours, and they're not even very progressed.

I sold my warrior for 5.000 Norwegian crowns, which equals about 1000 USD, its more expensive than you think.

Edit: Not to piss on your parade or anything, but buying these accounts isnt safe at all.
In the end, its the original owner and his personal information which determines who the owner really is.
Unless you feel you can trust the seller, stay the fuck away from buying wow accounts.
Its so easy for the seller to get the account back, and you're left with nothing.
