Whenever I need to return to my nromal sleep schedule I just force myself to wake up and go to sleep at correct times. For example if you forced yourself to wake up a normalish time like 8am, by the time you reach 12pm you'll start to feel really tired, but just force yourself to stay awake and hold on until like 10pm that night. By 10pm you should be so tired that it's not as hard to fall alseep.

Originally saw it on tv (Discovery channel i think). Took a few mins to dig up, but i managed to find it in the most obvious place possible . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep#Longest_period_without_sleep You probably meant "longest time awake by purpose" and in that case you were right.

Stars, I think your body and brain are just recovering. Btw, never stay up for that long ever again, it's very unhealthy, especially for psychological reasons.

Getting exercise is really good, but I would suggest doing strenuous exercise, not recreational. Work out, lift some weight, and eat really well. No junk food for a little bit, until you're back on schedule. Go running too, cardio is important because if it is strenuous (don't hurt yourself), it helps you STAY asleep once you go asleep. Don't drink caffeine, especially if you are particularly sensitive to it. If your sleep schedule is already messed up, trying to "tweak" your body might just mess you up more. Are you having trouble focusing or functioning in the day? If this continues for too long, go to the doctor. Most medicines today are great because you don't form a dependency on them. My last piece of advice, which is the only thing that works for me apart from medication, b/c I can't rest my mind until my body just seemed to shut down, is if you have a lot of time to do nothing (it is Christmas break), try staying up 2 hours later every day, until your sleep schedule is close to back to normal.

Then shower. 4. No stimulants after 5 pm (coffee etc..) 3. At 6 pm every day take over the counter, 5 mg melatonin (note: if you miss it by more than 20 min skip it and make sure next day you don't miss it) regardless at what time you are going to go to sleep. A healthy body makes a peak of its own melatonin around 6 pm. Do this for 14 days. The waking up early and exercise forces your body to want to sleep before midnight. The melatonin and the sun at exact times resets your sleep wake cycle. Note given your current cycle the first 3 days can be brutal, but you will be amazed how fast your body catches up.

It SUCKED though. I did it intentionally(with a friend) but it was fucking gay. Around the 5th day is when the weird shit started happening; I'd start to see white lights at my peripheral vision, and when I'd turn to look at it, it was gone; I'd be sitting in a dark room and I'd still see these white lights. Never again ~_~ EDIT: Forgot a word.
