How do I stop this? Ever since i've stayed up those 9 days i haven't been sleeping good. I've been falling asleep at 7-9am everyday and waking up at 12pm everyday. >.< I don't know what to do or how to fix this :[ Give some advice?

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad, The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had.

9 DAYS?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!!

Whenever I need to return to my nromal sleep schedule I just force myself to wake up and go to sleep at correct times. For example if you forced yourself to wake up a normalish time like 8am, by the time you reach 12pm you'll start to feel really tired, but just force yourself to stay awake and hold on until like 10pm that night. By 10pm you should be so tired that it's not as hard to fall alseep.

Set up an alarm clock for the time you want to get up, get lots and lots of exercise (do pushups and situps until you can't move a muscle) and go to sleep at the time you want, lie in bed, breathe deep, try not to think about anything (if a thought pops into your head, fight it and think nothing) it's a matter of will. If you're still having trouble (3+ hours lying in bed without sleep) drink a ton of caffeine (2-3 cups of tea should suffice), you'll be hyper for like 2 hours but after that you'll drop into sleep instantly. I have similar problems regulating my schedule at times and I find these methods help most.
All you need in life is a strong will to succeed and unrelenting determination. If you meet these prerequisites, you can become anything you want with absolutely no luck, fortune or natural ability.

That's not true at all. There's some guy in vietnam who's been awake since somewhere in the 1970's.
On topic: I dunno, i doubt staying up for that long is very healthy. Wth were you doing?

Try really hard staying up pass 8:00pm then just fall asleep the next day around same time. Doesn't have to be that time it could be 6pm. just think about it as waking up really early.

Originally saw it on tv (Discovery channel i think).
Took a few mins to dig up, but i managed to find it in the most obvious place possible .

You probably meant "longest time awake by purpose" and in that case you were right.

I thought this was funny.

Stars, I think your body and brain are just recovering. Btw, never stay up for that long ever again, it's very unhealthy, especially for psychological reasons.

This happens to me a lot. Right now I'm actually trying to readjust my sleep schedule because I tend to go to bed around 6 am and wake up at 10 or 11. I'm not tired until 6 am, and I can't sleep past 10 or 11. It is nice at first b/c of how much I can get done (or I just play a lot of starcraft), but then I feel dizzy and weird all day.

Getting exercise is really good, but I would suggest doing strenuous exercise, not recreational. Work out, lift some weight, and eat really well. No junk food for a little bit, until you're back on schedule. Go running too, cardio is important because if it is strenuous (don't hurt yourself), it helps you STAY asleep once you go asleep.

Don't drink caffeine, especially if you are particularly sensitive to it. If your sleep schedule is already messed up, trying to "tweak" your body might just mess you up more.

Are you having trouble focusing or functioning in the day?

If this continues for too long, go to the doctor. Most medicines today are great because you don't form a dependency on them.

My last piece of advice, which is the only thing that works for me apart from medication, b/c I can't rest my mind until my body just seemed to shut down, is if you have a lot of time to do nothing (it is Christmas break), try staying up 2 hours later every day, until your sleep schedule is close to back to normal.

some are physically addictive but most are just "psychologically", as in they *may* become a crutch that you can't sleep without

omg, no to the pills like jens/frozen said, they'll end up more addictive than brood war probably. i just fixed my sleep pattern, I think I happened to randomly do what skyglow mentioned about just going to sleep at a normal time (10 p.m. -12 a.m.) and now I wake up at like 7-8 a.m. lol, new pattern ftw

easy..

1. Wake up every day at your target time.. say 750 am.
2. Then exercise 20 min (e.g run or gym) very preferably outside where you see the sun. Then shower.
4. No stimulants after 5 pm (coffee etc..)
3. At 6 pm every day take over the counter, 5 mg melatonin (note: if you miss it by more than 20 min skip it and make sure next day you don't miss it) regardless at what time you are going to go to sleep. A healthy body makes a peak of its own melatonin around 6 pm.
Do this for 14 days.

The waking up early and exercise forces your body to want to sleep before midnight. The melatonin and the sun at exact times resets your sleep wake cycle. Note given your current cycle the first 3 days can be brutal, but you will be amazed how fast your body catches up.

I truly believe that the best way to go to sleep is to do an intensive work-out of skipping rope, doing highschool style push-ups and then doing a bunch of sit-ups+ whatever you can think of to beat up your body, and then go to sleep. It should work, if not, perhaps have a good time listening to some music that gets you to sleep. Most long albums should work, I find Buckethead or Red Hot Chili Peppers works best for me. Good luck. Plus everything else that everyone has said.

I once stayed up 6 days without sleep.*Almost Entire week. No lies.

It SUCKED though. I did it intentionally(with a friend) but it was fucking gay. Around the 5th day is when the weird shit started happening; I'd start to see white lights at my peripheral vision, and when I'd turn to look at it, it was gone; I'd be sitting in a dark room and I'd still see these white lights.

Never again ~_~

EDIT: Forgot a word.
