Inland Empire actually tells a very complicated story which pieced together correctly makes perfect sense and is quite beautiful. It's just told in a surrealist expression, using symbols, absurdities, bits and pieces, fragments, clues, etc, etc, etc, in a manner only David Lynch can. If you watch it again, pay attention to: the red lamp, what blue and red means. the different realities. The different characters that Laura Dern plays, when she is Nikki, when she is Sue, the Polish woman, etc. Who the Phantom is, what his motive is. Who Laura Dern's husband is in the different realities, what his motive is. The title of the play, "High on Blue Tommorows", what it means for the play to be cursed. Who the assistant to the director is, who "Mr.K" is. Who the Rabbits are rabbit is, what role do they play. What they have to do with "Those that have a way with animals." The lady with curly dark hair with her back turned and how one of the girls asks the audience, "Who is she?" And the most important stuff. What the phrase "If today was tommorow, then..", "If yesterday was tommrow..." "Actions do have consequences". What the old lady says in the beginning to Nikki, the little boy who walked out into the world and caused a reflection, which left evil behind, the little boy. The numbers, 47, the time, 9:45, after midnight, what after midnight means. And most importantly of all, the mentioning of time, yesterday, today, tommorow. The ending scene is not just awesome but holds meaning too. All of those things mean something, and together they tell a story. You have to really pay attention and figure stuff out in order to find out what most of them means. So watch it again please if you already have. I found out the polish scenes were subtitled in Chinese so I was able to finally understand what they were saying which was so essential to the viewing. David Lynch's every shot, every zoom on an object, every frame that lasts a couple seconds longer than it should, was planned. They all mean something. If you want to talk about it please post here, I would love to talk about it.

Definitely need to rewatch it at least once more, it's too complex to even comprehend the main idea behind the plot, not even mentioning the details. This movie is one of the best works of art I've ever seen, even when I couldn't understand the meaning of something I just sat back and watched with my jaw dropped. Will definitely look for a subtitled version, couldn't understand half of the things they were saying in Polish. Haven't seen a movie this good in a very long time.
