Well basically I am 14 years old and turning 15 in 5 days. I get straight A's and have a decent life. I moved out of my moms house and in with my dad. Next year I go into high school. My bestfriend is a girl. We dated for 11 months then broke up but were still best friends. I still love her. Or idk if i can even love someone at 14 but from what i know about love I think that i do.I go work out once every week and spend my summer either hanging out with friends or online on things like SC, TL or myspace. I have one brother (13), one half brother (7) and one step-brother (22).I used to have behavior problems. Like anger and stuff so my parents mom dragged me to a phyciatrists. He said I have something that makes me angry or w.e. But since I moved in with my dad about a year ago everything has been fine. I generally stay out of trouble now.
But what Ive been thinking about since Im turning 15 is where is my life going ? I mean yeah when I graduate from highschool I plan to go to West point (united states military academy). But like I dont have any goals for the near future and im becomming bored playing starcraft as much as i used to. I want to find a hobby or something to learn to do that will keep me interested. Just to try somethign new or have fun. If you say get a girlfriend I could but im tired of being hurt. Girls at the age of 14-15 cause to much drama and it gets old after awhile. Lots of my friends say im more mature then I should be. So I just dont know what to do right now? Any suggestions?
Please?

Just chillax. You (and I) are too young to worry about life decisions for now.

I strongly disagree. He's 15, and he's going to university in 3 years. 3 years go by so fast it's not even funny. Then he'll be 18, thinking about what he should with his life. -_-

Find something your good at. Get rid of your girlfriend. Then work hard at it. It dosen't really matter what, but something that is applicable in the future. For example, if it's not a sport (your probably too late to start something like that) then find something you enjoy doing at school...a science etc. Dosen't mean you have to study...just be interested in it, look stuff up, read about it, and shit. Then when you don't want to do that, play SC (or some other random video games). Whenever I feel tired of SC I find some gay ass flash game online and play it for 10 levels and I see what a waste of time that was instead of having fun playing 3v3...lolz. Enjoy life, but don't waste time doing nothing.

Wizard, I wasn't saying that 15 was too young to look ahead, but it is not the time to take something as seriously as the OP has taken it.

My immediate reaction is to tell the kid to chillax. (btw, I'm 17 going into university in a month, if that gives any perspective.) I have been accepted, and by no means is what I'm taking what I wan to do in life. Some number like 75 (don't quote me) percent of people with jobs do not use their first degree. I have heard so many middle aged people reminisce and note that they took life too seriously.

If you start working too hard now, you might burn yourself out. It really depends on your work ethic.

btw, if you're looking for a hobby, what school subject do you truly enjoys the most (not necessarily your best one)?

PE: Take up some sort of sport (obviously)
Math: Learn to speedsolve Rubik's cubes, maybe take up scrabble or poker (Scrabble is a lot of math and probability, not words like everyone thinks). Maybe learn some game theory.
Science: Read? lolz dunno.
English: Creative writing, perhaps journalism.
Social studies of sorts: Economic theory? Political discussion?

The array of possble hobbies is endless; just don't think that you have to make any sorts of big decisions right now.

Take everything with a grain of salt.

You have a shitton of free time in your HS years compare to college, so make the most of it. Take the time to gon a big search for things that interest you. Look at sports, different hobbies, maybe learn a language, and "academic" stuff that might interest you like science.

In general there are alot of things you can do that will be useful later on in life. Get into good habbits by looking up stuff about exercise, time management, reading up on news and an awareness of whats going on in the world etc etc.

You should read, Robert Kiyoski's Rich Dad Poor Dad. My goal in life is to become rich and create a good cashflow so i can do anything that happens to interest me in life. Im not sure if you want to be rich later on or not, but never hurts to be more educated financially than your other mates around you. I would also recommend you get a job. Preferably a sales job where you meet ALL kinds of people and ultimately learn how to deal with them. Trust me, this will keep you occupied for awhile. Lastly, enjoy highschool and go for all the pretty girls and join groups/activities and dont be scared of rejection/failure. I wish i could have gone back to HS, I would have changed alot of things...

Sorry for quoting you but that's probably a very misleading statistic. What do you mean by 'use their first degree?' If you mean they got a job in the field of the degree, then the statistic is probably correct, but it's probably not correct to say that the rest of those people shouldn't have gotten a degree. Many offers come when you have a degree in general, almost regardless of the type/major.

The stat refers to whether your degree is directly related to your CURRENT field of work. So they usedtheir first degree to get that far, then simply did what they really wanted to do in life.

I was tired. Forgive me

I will look into that book. But I dont want to be rich, sure it would be nice but all I want is a steady cashflow to support my family (in the future). I applied for a job this summer but not many jobs would take a 14 year old so i got rejected .

I read this books too. Someone here who seemed much more knowledgeable on the subject told me that book is utter crap T_T. I also saw a thing on TV where they gave 3 college students 1000$ and told robert to help them profit in a week. None of them did.

Fuck girlfriends, play the field in hs. Had a gf for 2.5 years and when i broke up with her Sr year, i realized how dumb that is.

And play sports, because that is hands down the thing people miss most about hs. (at least I do =[ ) Most important is just have fun, but balance it with doing work. You won't have the leway you have in hs when you hit college.

seriously dude, you are very young. At 15 you should not be looking over the horizon (within reason) that far! Just continue to focus on your school work, get a drivers license, dedicate time to forging good relationships with friends and relax! Play sports (if you dont), spend time with your parents and basically motivate yourself to contribute to that which matters.. school, family friends and your own well being. Dont worry about having your entire life mapped out by 15, lots of people get into college and switch majors 3-4 times because they dont know! Thats 3-5 years ahead of your time. Enjoy the relaxed life you should have while you can. Soon you will have deadlines, bills and relationship issues to deal with that demand experience/level headedness..

PM me if you want to hear more + like what I said.

Yeah man, it's practically a given that you're going to change your mind. Hell, in my sr alone, i toyed with becoming an architect, a doctor, a lawyer and a psychiatrist. I studied psychology for 1.5 years before dropping out. I work ft as a writer/editor/ad sales and just wrapped up my business management associates. Two more years for communications or journalism degree (not decided). People change constantly until their jr year, when you have to decide. Just don't be an idiot like my friend. He's 4th year senior with no fucking major some how haha

yea, i took it as purely conceptual. it was definitely an interesting concept that i have never considered. I always thought that a job was your way to becomming rich. Always interested in what other people have to say.

Bring a shotgun
And get all the birds

I applied for a job (the only one i found that would accept a 14 year old) and they rejected me

hahaha schones i got rejected by 2 times for the same job. here is my journey...

1st attempt, a local retailer was hiring, i decided to go there and request an application.
I was ignored by almost everyone in the store including the managers.

2nd attempt, the same local retailer was hiring, i decide to go there AGIAN and request an application. Luckily, they needed employees bad so the manager was really nice to everyone who showed up to fill out an application. I filled my application out and was waiting for an interview. I waited for 2 hours and out walks the manager and tells everyone that he was grateful everyone came out and will get back to them. I never got my interview like everyone else did...

3rd attempt, same store, same manager, same DAMN application. this time I had inside help. Another store employee was a classmate of mine and he dropped a line for me there. I came, I interviewed, I conquered. I worked the job for about a year and a half, ended up being the highest grossing sales person two quarters straight.

So its great that you are experiencing failure and defeat early on. You will experience much much more later. However, just go out to attempt it is what you should be doing with your life. Anything that really interests you or challenges you.

Youre 14/15. Thats entering high school. You got a few more years before you need to worry about that kind of stuff, and hopefully by then youll have enjoyed your high school years and figure out the kind of things you like to do and go down that road.

Your 14 going on 15, you have pretty well all your life ahead of you. Just do what you want to do while still maintaining marks at school high enough to get you into university. Once you get a feeling of who you are you can better establish what you want to do with your life, and as others said, changing your mind isn't a huge deal. I went to school to become a chef, finished school, now working as a banquet/line cook at a 4 star hotel. Its not a bad job but i know i cant stand doing it for the rest of my life, so I'm using it to pay my bills while figuring out what i want to do, and hell I'm 21, there are others here who are prob older than i am who will tell you similar things.
