Not everything in my life has been perfect, obviously, but overall I'd say it's been fairly good to me within the past month or two. I found around $200 worth of unused GameStop gift cards that I got for my birthday (I haven't decided what I'll use them for yet) and I feel like I've improved myself, both in Smash and in real life. The people I've played with and talked to say that I have potential to be good, and have improved a lot since the last time I played them. I feel like there are multiple reasons for this:
-Picking up a new character in Diddy Kong, that I regularly use alongside my Cloud and Lucina (this new character helps me deal with certain matchups)
-Changing my playstyle to revolve more around whiff punishing (for all you non-fighting game players, this basically means punishing your opponent's missed attack)
-My junior year of high school is almost over, which in turn gives me a lot more time to practice.
-Looking for tips on how to improve, both in-game and emotionally. I've been getting a lot of good tips on how I can improve my play, such as this response from a top player who I asked (this may or may not be a subtle way to advertise my Twitter account)
-Mentality changes. I personally think that my mentality was the main thing holding me back from improving, because I remember being "stuck" at one point. I remember losing matches online and thinking, "I suck, how am I ever going to get better if I keep making the same mistakes?". Looking back, I was a lot harder on myself than I should have been, because that bad mentality alone kept me from adapting to my opponent's mistakes and improving my own. Now I have a huge motivation to get better, which I feel has helped me a lot. I don't exactly know what that motivation is, but hey, as long as I'm improving
