Finally. After 7 long years of dreaming of yellow, I finally got it. I might have been capable of it in 2013/2014, but never laddered enough, but finally achieved it now, and learning offrace zerg!

Hyped as hell, but the real challenge starts now, going to be significantly harder to reach the more solid yellow ranks and the ultimate objective of blue. Let the training continue! This is not the end of the blog however, as something is missing essential to all rank up blogs...

A Battle Report!

Sitting at 2913pts, only a terran name GlowingSword stands between LMaster and a yellow rank

Looks like both your macros fell apart once he did the first roll out and never recovered. Zerg eco is really/feels bizzare compared to protoss and terran lol.

Zerg macro I don't have the hang of yet. Especially ZvT. I ALWAYS have like 2k/100. Super has starved but mineral rich. Probably in part to do with not having a third/fourth quick enough and needing to spam a few more hatches.

That and overlords sneak up on me sometimes worse than pylons do.

This game was especially bad though. Basically choking under pressure. Wanted to win to badly and went one track mind on microing muta to not die. Macro suicide and major crack under pressure. Standard midgame is not the time for "focus only on this one specific thing to make sure it goes perfect" mentality.

On the plus side if I am beating D+/C- guys like this, it means there is plenty of opportunity move up just by getting the mechanics focused correctly.

I think it's a big milestone no matter what changes there are. Learning a new race is always super challenging as well even if we're all mostly old hands at the game.

Also the BM at the end ahaha, so salty Glowingsword.

About the battle-report: Don't be afraid of the tank! If you go 3-hatch muta, your hive will not be in time for the Terran push. This guy went with an old-school(ish) 9-minute push when they get their science vessel. He pushed out a bit sooner (8:25) before the vessel, and with only one tank.

This is important cuz your hive will come around at 11 or so minutes (sorry, it's been awhile since I played so I forget the timing) so you'll need to defend with your lair-tech, which isn't bad if the Terran doesn't have many tanks/vessels. Lurkers and lings can handle a single tank if they have their carapace upgrade done.

I would recommend carapace over spines cuz your tech path will probably go towards ultralisks, and melee units need to be able to take hits to reach their targets. Having a second evo chamber for your claw upgrades is a must. Then you can REALLY a-move your way to victory.

Good job for your yellow rank. I watched your stream last night and you were very entertaining. It was nice that you always watch your last replays and analyze what you could improve. By doing that, I'm sure you will be a real C players that can win versus other C players on a regular basis.

Can't wait for the next battle recap, it was a nice read. GG
