Hey all,
As with everyone else on this site, I'm a gamer. Surprise! Well I'm actually a banker by trade. Not too long ago I decided that instead of being a banker I'd much rather spend my time doing gaming things that I enjoy. A bit later I had an idea for a startup, and now I'm trying to make that idea a reality. YOLO, I guess.
I'm still keeping my job for now, but I've already incorporated and begun work on the project. Been staying u every night until around 3am teaching myself enough HTML, CSS and JavaScript to make a version 0.00001 demo. About 2 weeks in I have something pretty cool but still seriously lacking in functionality. This stuff is hard!
Recently I found a cool team of developers to work with that will help push it forward.
Without giving away too much I'm trying to build something that will tie together all the different aspects of playing games, streaming, editing your videos, and sharing them. In order to do this properly I need as much feedback as possible from the gaming community regarding HOW you guys currently stream/record/edit/publish/share.
I made a survey that asks 10 multiple choice questions. I'd very much appreciate it if you guys could take roughly 3 minutes and answer them.
Also, I welcome anyone's comments in the comments section about their experiences trying to record and share their own games. Anything you wish was easier? Any tools that you like in particular?
Ultimately I'm hoping that this is something that will bring the community together and add new members. So for the good of gaming, please help out

I used to stream, but now I don't. Haven't upgraded my PC in ages, so streaming is rather impossible. I think that's the biggest barrier here, the need to splurge extra on computer parts just so you can stream.

I want to take it a step further than that.
When you push your share button it puts the video file on your YoutTube.
What now? If you want to edit it add sound or a meme or whatever the process is extremely tedious. You can use Youtube's built in editor (which kind of sucks) to create a new video but you can edit your existing one and their functionality is limited.
If you stream on twitch you cant touch your video besides length and your only option is to send it to Youtube...
Try to imagine like instagram/snapchat for your gaming videos.

Both actually. I don't really have an interest streaming because after work, I'm tired and then I usually spend it doing other stuff.
I don't think most of my content would be that interesting either, but that may be the hardcore gamer side of me. I watch a very specific set of streamers like Polt, Trump, Kripp, and chu8 because they all explain what they do.

Well, nobody is gonna watch your videos to learn build orders and stuff. But I stream because sometimes funny shit happens while I'm streaming. And it's fun to share with my friends.

Are you going to have a tool to make it easy to post a small part of a sc2 replay? Or will people have to post whole files? Could someone watch even if they don't own the game other people are showing?

I'm trying to make it easier to upload/edit small bits of gameplay for sure, yeah. Right now most people stream on Twitch so their games are in there. But Twitch doesn't have any editing tools other than length and any sharing tools other than Youtube.
