And you get a free entry because of it? It's only a 5K, so it's much shorter than TM, but I've just never done anything with obstacles. I see people on Ninja Warrior fail the warped wall climb all the time. | ||

For gear, general shoes you don' care about like Trainrunnef said are great. I tied mine pretty tight, and put a layer of ductape around the laces so my shoes wouldn't fall off. I would also recommend gloves. Mad grip gloves from amazon are great and just cut off the finger tips for drainage. The last thing that helped me was increasing my vertical. I'm 5'7 and jumping as high as possible is really helpful for some of those obstacles otherwise people have to help you. For fitiness, I was running 5-6 miles every other day, and 3 miles in between those days, and could do like 15 pull-ups. None of the obstacles I thought were that hard, but getting shocked by electricity was an experience. Try to get shocked at least once or you'll regret it! ![]() | ||

The tips on the shoes and gloves are super useful. I'm actually running Rugged Maniac, which is a 5K. So I just want to experience the obstacles first. I think Tough Mudder is a lot about the 12 mile run. But Rugged has more obstacles. I'm going to take your advice about the increasing vertical and doing pullups. I think it'll really help with the obstacles. Something short of building my own obstacles in my backyard, which I've seen people do for Ninja Warrior. Like this guy did: :O | ||
